What's funny is my 1985 Yamaha FJ-1100 had self canceling turn signals and in many ways that bike was the forerunner to the FJR1300.

I can see the change in myself...there was a time I would have thought 100 miles was a long ride. Now if I don't hit 100 miles when I'm out it feels like it was too short a ride.

I agree I typically don't want to be on the clock, and like riding around without a predetermined route. But a challenge is fun too and can show you what you're capable of. I have lots of two-wheeled goals and feel like I'm just getting started...

ive never truly kept track of miles unless im out and about all day then ill keep an eye on it.

i just want to kinda go at my own pace lol. i for sure couldnt do one with the gf on the bike thou since she cant rid for as long as i can with her bad knees.

a goal i have is one day to ride all the way to Canada to see the falls. its either on a bike or a truck lol but a bike does sound more fun to me lol

I'd like to be able to say I've ridden in at least the lower 48 states. I'm at 32 states now and most of that was done in 2018-2019. I've been in Colorado and New Mexico but not on a bike yet. I'd also like to ride some in Canada.

I never used to think I'd do it but if I could I'd like to try the Iron Butt Rally. I know a podium finish is probably beyond my skill set but just to be a finisher would still be amazing to me.

I would say I really started tracking my riding in the past 10 years after I learned about long distance rallying. Even when I was in school team sports had no appeal for me but somehow the solo riding with a bit of a competition interested me. Here was a combo of riding my motorcycle, going to see cool things, and being scored on it sounded like it might be fun. There aren't as many rallies being offered now as back then so I've moved on to the Grand Tour style events that last for months and can be done almost anywhere. They give me an excuse to ride and to visit some areas I might never otherwise go see.

i thought you judged the miles depending on which bike you have for that year lol.
ya the grand tour style event would be more interesting to me since its no time frame and you can go look at some cool things

Finished installing the 904 big bore kit on my 2014 Triumph Thruxton. The added power is immediately noticeable. Runs great, but I am having some idle issues. It won’t hold on idle unless I set it pretty high. If I set it to anything below 1500 RPMs it randomly drops to about 700 after about a minute then the engine cuts out. Fuel lines are good, vacuum hoses are good, MAP sensor tubing is good. The next thing I’ll be checking is the valve lash. When I reassembled the head, I used new shims to make up the difference, but I’m wondering if it possibly changed after the engine was ran for the first time. The only other thing I can think of is the bike might not like the tune I loaded on it. So a dyno run and custom tune might be in the future.

I use the first trip to track miles between fuel ups, and the second trip to track the day's ride. This is the first year I've been recording all my days/miles ridden and it's interesting to see.

I hear you on the two-up riding, wife and I went on a short trip last weekend on my KTM and it's got me wondering if should get something more roomy for us. Canada trip would be fun

Greats goals I'm sure you could achieve, hopefully the IBR is getting sorted. As for me I'd like to do some touring and long trips. I want to mix it up and ride it all - street, track, and dirt

ah i gotcha makes sense lol i havent kept track of my days rides miles since its mainly to work or just around town lol nothing fancy

yup emily does want her own bikes but we both do want a bike to do more long distance with and be a bit more comfy with. we do love the bolt and would like something similar but the only thing close is the yamaha star venture from 2018 and up but people want money for them! plus its 957lbs! so idk haha

I have a new drone coming today, a DJI Neo. $200 active track little baby guy, pretty pumped. Should be easy to hand release it and have it do follow me mode on the bike, with some visual object avoidance that looks pretty good. Only downside is it's a bit slow, I think 12mph tops, but can still do a slow roller shot. It'll be much easier to bring riding vs my mini 2.

Buuuut I can't play with it tonight because I'm at work until about 11pm. We have a concert at work, Mike Dimes (texas rapper? he's not terrible, pretty generic rap though). I'm taking tomorrow off as flex time though, hoping to do some errands and then go for a long ride!

Yeah, I have an iphone. I use their app but also Litchi occasionally if I want to do more waypoint based things.
