Anyone with a manual transmission find the center console is kind of in the way for shifting? It's almost like the stick sits lower and the console too high to me. Yes, I moved the seat up.

I sit high with my seat spacers and it doesn’t bother me.

I find it quite right actually. It’s comparable to my loader joystick and armrest on my tractor. But we’re all different, what works for one doesn’t for the other.

I have a custom extended shift knob from Lathewerks and that places it just where I want it. I agree the stock knob is too low.

The TRD shift knob sits higher as well.

not a fan of the entire stick shit center console configuration, just looks wrong.....

    placement of ebrake buttons, etc...
Its just all wrong, thats a huge fail in my mind!!

Depends in which gear you are when you place the phone. If I’m stopped, I’ll go to neutral.

Having said that, it could be better. The e-brake could be next to the 4wd selector and phone where e-brake is.

Yeah, no idea what they were thinking there…
    Visually just sucks….
Phone being on the far right side, makes for a long reach.
I sat in a trd sport the other day to see if the seats, bigger monitor, etc would speak to me, must have, etc….
It just happen to be a manual, I was like WTF…

Everything about the manual screams they made it because they had to, not because they wanted to.

They don't have to make a manual tacoma. Toyota does it cause they know people want it. They aren't going to design anything around the manual as it's a low percentage compared to automatics.
I think toyota is dropping the ball with the manuals. They easily sell everyone they make where the automatics will linger around until Dec or January and be discounted. They should double the amount of manuals made and I bet they still sell them all.
Parking brake sucks in general because it's not a handbrake, I hate the auto shit.

Just cuz you hate "auto shit"
Doesnt mean the parking brake sucks....
Its actually very well thought-out system & works great!
Not having to think about it & auto sets & auto releases is REALLY NICE!

I miss a handbrake too, my Pro4X had one, but somebody killed it 6 years ago.

    Works great until it doesn’t.
