Not to make fun of someone else's misery, but when I was big into RC crawlers/scale rigs, 99% of anyone involved would charge the LiPo batteries in a LiPo bag- which was basically a thick fiberglass matt material sewn together with super strong stitching and a super strong velcro flap on the top of the pouch so that when a LiPo would "go off", it would contain the spewing molten lava and not set anything else on fire.I wonder how long it will be before some sort of containment devise is made for the battery packs on these EV's.. or mandate them to outside charging away from any structures.

Are the lightnings using lipo or other lithium batteries? Not that it’s the same but the Prius I had was nicad, I think. Well, maybe something else but I don’t think lithium at all.

It’ll be interesting to hear what the cause of it will be. A Quick Look shows there was a recall a little over a year ago due to battery fires caused by a “glitch.”
