'24 passenger side mirror

Scraped the passenger side mirror with under 250 miles on my 2024 TRD sport

I'm going to try touchup paint but I've seen you can order a pre painted OEM mirror cap. Hopefully it comes off and goes on easy. Is there a part for the scrape on the black plastic or do you have to replace the entire mirror? Would one of those plastic restore products improve the look?

 

You should be able to order just the cap. If there’s not a national back order like so many other 2024 parts.

 

I have a one car garage and always park tight up against the right side wall, did the same saying, but I didn’t hit the black plastic, very slight scuff, I was able to use very light rubbing compound and get majority of the scuff mark off and used very little touchup paint.
You won’t ever do that again…
Touch up paint is an art…
Just enough, let it suck in & fill, don’t paint..
After cleaning it up, I just needed about an 1/8 to 1/4 quick length dab of touchup paint..
Same width / height as yours..
I bet money that you brushed up against the wall also…
The Toyota touch up is amazing & worth the $20…
Crazy how soft / fragile the paint is..
I brushed up against my garage wall / paint drywall..
Think the mirror even folded…

 

Thanks for the tip. Yes it was on my garage wall. I also have a 1 car garage. I have some 040 white touchup paint coming in the mail. Did you scuff the black plastic underneath as well? I may just have to live with that one.

 

all caps come unpainted unless it's the chrome color.

I don't know about 2024, but there are color matched mirror covers for the 3rd gen Tacoma.

I got lucky, my black plastic area was not harmed, like I said you’re dragging across the wall was much longer than mine, my total area was about half an inch long, but I only had a touchup at the most quarter of an inch.
don’t call out and buy anything, but if you have like a car, wax or polish or rubbing compound or something, clean up the scuff as best as you can with that product first in regards to the paint before you start touching up, it may clean some marring from the wall.
I don’t wanna over scuff marks were black marks that will just buff out.
Less is more and will look less noticeable after you’re done

 

I've got about 2 inches on each side as I pull through my garage door opening. I have a marker on the wall in front of me that I aim for when entering. When I get within about 4 inches of the wall. the auto brake kicks on. I have a plastic delineator, (think highway construction) next to the wall that moves when I pull another 2 inches forward. Then I'm far enough in to close the garage door. Yes, single car garages are tricky!

 

chrome cap exists yes, but not pre painted options from the factory lol.

must be a typo then or something because toyota for the longest time has never offered pre painted parts from the factory. i have only seen chrome or black plastic.
until i see tangible evidence, i'll stand by my original statement.

As someone who ordered and installed color matched mirror backs, your statement is 100% incorrect. The mirror backs can be ordered prepainted / color-matched in every body color offered for 2024, plus chrome.

 

the attached link doesn’t present any tangible evidence, just a computer generated diagram. im just expressing my observations.

 

now for clarification, do we know for a fact whether it was painted at the dealership or factory? i know some online sellers will have their in house staff paint the parts before shipping the part out to the consumer.

 

FFS man....just look at the parts on that link and notice that they all state a different color that matches the paint codes. I bet you are real fun at parties.
