When do you consider a vacation over? I took this week off and am wondering if today or Sunday is the last day ..

@StayinStock i understand your feelings. It is frustrating when people don’t do their jobs, or have the courtesy to at lease communicate with you. I know first hand how hard it is to keep your calm in these situations. Hang in there.

Another fun filled & exciting day working on the GMC...

 

During the work years I never really took "a vacation".
Rusty >> << much older Rusty


However any time off almost always went in 3 stages:

1) Euphoria anticipating all the things I'm going to get done.


2) Incredible frustration that I'm not getting things done.


3) Crushing depression because I didn't get things done & have to go back to work.

 

Well, I didn’t go to work and had to use “vacation” time on my timecard.. Pretty much went according to how you mapped it out.

I’m at around 40-50% of project completion rate nowadays.

My crushing depression isn’t tied to not getting the other 50-60% of the projects done, it’s about going back to work for an incompetent boss who micromanages me. No joy left in my job. If I can’t find something else to do in the next few months, I’ll leave.

That was one of the very few positives of my old job, I had an excellent boss who trusted & respected me, he left me alone to do what I thought was right. He is a genuinely good person as well.

And then...

The company railroaded him to bring in a new guy "who was going to fix everything" (they misled him big time). He was very intelligent however a pretty crappy person.

He tried to micro-manage me at first but quickly realized that:
1) He didn't know squat about what I did.
2) I pretty much ignored him and everything worked very efficiently.
3) He had a heck of a lot of bigger problems that me to worry about.

Epilogue...

I retired six months after the new guy started.
My good boss now has a job making almost 2X his previous wage.
