Good thing I haven't gotten taught how to program the lathe yet. Customer just came in with a piece with acme thread on the inside, fine thread on the outside and said they need it ASAP and money was no object. Oh, the acme thread is left hand. I said I'll tell the boss when he gets back

Well the left handed acme thread shouldn't be a problem since it's a brass piece being threaded.

    So I did a thing.
I recently added another service to my bowling ball repair hobby.
Identification dots to make bowlers with the same balls be able to tell which is theirs.
So I bought a drill press.

    IMG_8223.jpg

The process begins with drilling a exact center depression in the ball

    IMG_8379.jpg

    IMG_8380.jpg

Angle drilling to help secure the dot to the ball

    IMG_8390.jpg

Coloring the epoxy and filling the hole

    IMG_8391.jpg

Curvature sanding and reconditioning the ball

    IMG_8393.jpg

Now I know there are two people that has the same balls as I do.
Now I’ll be able to find mine.
Holes are exactly round and not oblong because of drilling a round object

Alrighty crew, got a call last night from a nice young lady from the plant. Asking how we were doing and making sure we had everything we needed.
As y'all know we've been good all this time.
But this morning I got a call from HR . Giving me the lowdown on my benefits which supposedly kick in on 11/1/24.
This morning I got a text message from work explaining that we are going to get paid for another 2 weeks, but asking for volunteers to come in starting next Monday on 12 hr shifts to start cleaning and getting ready to start up production. I sent in I am ready to start!.
After the initial 2 weeks of cleaning others will need to sign up for DUA with the state for unemployment. I gotta keep my foot in the door only worked there 3 weeks.o_O I should be able to do 12 hr shifts, gonna be tired but who cares after we get back open it'll be a walk in the park.
Waiting on the guy to call me and let me know my truck is ready too.
Been a busy week with food pantry and all. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I'm guessing there only needs to be a minute amount of nickel to classify it as stainless steel. I tested the magnetic pull on some plain old hi carbon steel and the old "butt" dyno couldn't tell the difference.

Another day working on the GMC.

    KIMG4475.jpg

Here are some bits I pulled off for the prize dumpster warehouse.

    KIMG4476.jpg

    ^^^^^

How appropriate the pail originally held cat litter.

(Yet) Another pile of quality General Motors rust protection on the floor, I have filled 2 pails so far.

    KIMG4477.jpg

The rocker panel area does have a bunch of plastic plugs that could be pulled out and Fluid Film, etc applied -- if someone had done that we wouldn't be here now...

Always thinking for the betterment of the group. ;)

Having @six5crèéd pick this up will save a lot of shipping and it only about 500 miles for him...

    ...one way...

    none yet
So we had a fire drill today
Shift is 6 am to 2:45 pm
the drill was around 2:10~2:15 pm and cleared around 2:25~2:30 pm
so we had to go back in for 15ish minutes
I have mention I work in an ISO 5 cleanroom and ICE we don't degrown to evacuate
So we blow though 180 sets of gowns and booties instead of the normal 90 at the end of a week
    but I digress
