As I was reading your post the first thing I thought of was dry ice. I’ve watched a few YouTube videos on the subject matter.

Yes. Please enlighten us with some details on the benefits as opposed to going with a fluid film and the like.

 

Fluid film is great if you purchase a vehicle new and you religiously re apply, and I use it on my truck! Rust is a chemical reaction and once it starts the only real way to prevent that chemical reaction is to remove the contamination. fluid film will slow the process but it will not remove the contaminates that will continue to cause that chemical reaction of oxidation and rusting that will eventually kill the structural integrity of your truck, like in my situation i was looking for a way to stop the further deterioration of my frame so i could address the problem areas and really pull up the problem at the roots and not worry about possibly having to replace the frame if i wanted to keep my truck road worthy in the future.

So the service we want to offer is a combination of step 1 decontaminating the vehicle using D.IB. then apply a coating that would 1 keep your truck cosmetically looking good but even more than that help preserve the underbody of the vehicle.

I've been doing a bit of sand blasting the last couple days at Sand Mountain.


It doesn't seem very effective but I'll keep trying tomorrow and Saturday, possibly even a little on Sunday as part of the volunteer cleanup crew.

That turbo was earning it's keep again today as an extra strength sand blaster.


Good luck with the business I took the bed off this truck a few years ago so I could get the back half of the frame down to bare metal and treated it, salt around here gets out of control for sure.

On average how much does this type of work cost?

Do you charge by the hour or is there a set amount cost?

 

It's hourly due to the fact every vehicle is going to be different having more or less rust or dirt that will need to be removed. but i would say most cars/ midsized trucks take on average 4-5 hours to blast if they have moderate rust/dirt buildup. I will always make sure i have the owners budget understood so we can set an expectation for what the owner is going to get as a final product.

vehicle cleaning jobs can range from $800 - $2500 then we add $ for whatever undercoating or underbody protection method the owner wants to have applied if that is a service they want.

I wish we could charge a fixed rate for every type of vehicle but there is just to much variability from car to car. a 2006 Tacoma that has been maintained could end up being quicker than a 2020 Tacoma that has been taken out on the salt flats by your teenager and used to do donuts.

 

Went to the first Utah Hockey Club game!!! Awesome atmosphere and a fun game to watch. The views from many seats are not great though, based on my experience as well as conversations I had with others.

 

If I don't get to drive the Zamboni I think I'll pass...

 

Will be in UT next week. Taking a few days to do this route and sight-see along the way. Anyone going to be in the area?

We got to Delta Center at like 5:30, so we caught some of the concert, watched NHL on ESPN for a bit, and walked around. It was definitely crowded and there were a lot of people outside that didn't have tickets.

 

It's very rare for me to show up in northern Utah but I drove to Murray yesterday afternoon to exchange some ordered parts for the correct rack and pinion assembly for my truck and then I ended up running a little trail run with my Racing Anxiety buddies somewhere just off Provo canyon




Not the greatest shots but we caught a glimpse of a Aurora's last night. After that it was a clay powder dust nightmare of a road to the bottom. My engine compartment is so dirty now and my filter is caked and we also found a little mud along the way



It was a very unexpected trip so I left my EZ Flate compressor at home and we had to make it to a gas station to fill back up but it wasn't this Sinclair. My buddy's parked and then I squeezed myself between their 4runners, if I wasn't for my rock sliders I could probably make it through the gap

It was tight enough that just shaking my steering wheel was pushing against their tires

 

Where did you pick up the mud in Provo Canyon?

 

I have no idea where we were honestly, I was following the guy's in front of me and that was harder than you'd expected from how thick the dust was. We crossed what must have been a little stream or spring and into a camp ground and then turned back a different way and continued along the way so it was a bonus line

 

Well, I've had a project in the works that I've been trying to get done for almost a year... and am once more disappointed. I've been trying to do a series of YouTube videos and had a young guy that seemed competent... but he baled out for no reason. Well, I don't know that, but his grandmother said his parents were going through a divorce so it's hard to say. So I decided to hire a professional and we did a shoot with a rather large deposit, an agreed on price per video, and after wanting to reshoot the first effort he wants double his rate. The guy does excellent work but my budget and my sense of fair play are strained... probably past the limit.

Someone here seemed interested in it. I have a budget, a script, and now an example of what I'd like to have. Simple stuff if you know how to edit. I'd be interested in getting this done. PM me if you are interested in helping me out with this.

 

I need parts to replace my brake pads and associated hardware. who's our go to person to call to get the parts from the dealership? thanks in advance.
