I just got an Off Road 3rd gen loaner from the dealership while my TH was being worked on. WOW. The 3rd gen feels like trudging through a pool of mud compared to the Trailhunter even with ECT power turned on.

Maybe trudging but will still be going, verdict is out on the new gen, so far not looking so great.

Is it perfect, of course not. Does it drive better than a 3rd gen, absolutely.

Don't think anyone was arguing that and as it should given the new platform and powertrain.

Agreed, no argument here. I definitely have my quarrels with the new design, but it sure drives well.

It really does. Once that turbo spools up, it really has some zip. And its quiet. The self driving thing is fairly remarkable. I was on a low speed super twisty road and just kind of let the truck navigate on it's own. Nearly flawless driving.

Why is it not looking so great? I agree that there isn’t any longevity history yet. But other than having to religiously stay on your oil changes, so far so good. Nothing is going to be bulletproof especially when you have third parties involved and idiots abusing vehicles.

Besides a massive transmission TSB? The issues with rear fender pain getting chipped to hell even on stock setup, the cross threaded oil filters, etc? And agree nothing is perfect.

Not sure I would classify the transmission thing as massive, but this is definitely nothing new with any car manufacture, including Toyota that has had stacks of TSB reports going all the way to back to 2005 with the 2nd gens,
The single biggest issue I can remember them ever having through the last three generations was the very under designed
3 leaf suspension issue , which took them almost almost 15 years to fix and it still wasn’t a good fix.

[IMG] Hey y'all I know I've been MIA for a good bit, but I'd figured y'all would like to see this:

2025 LEXUS LX 700h OVERTRAIL GETS FRONT LOCKER

    https://pressroom.lexus.com/taking-...to-the-mountain-peaks-the-2025-lexus-lx-700h/

    from the release:

    "Overtrail Emboldens Off-Road Discovery
Building on the renowned off-road prowess of the LX, the Overtrail grade offers additional features and equipment to help customers revel in the exploration of the outdoors. It exudes a tough and rugged persona, too: offering exterior color Earth1 and, inside, Black or Stone Brown semi-aniline leather-trim on the seats and door panels with Stone Brown stitching and Black Open Pore wood accents on the center console and door panels.

In addition, Overtrail adds front and rear locking differentials, a 2,400W AC inverter, and off-road all-weather floor liners. The vehicle is adorned with 33-inch All-Terrain tires and 18-inch wheels, a front skid plate, and an appearance package, featuring a matte gray grille, black door handles, dark gray roof rails, dark chrome-finished window trim and bumper trim, and black overfenders.

The Overtrail grade is available on the LX 700h and can be equipped as a two or three-row configuration."

I'm sure the locking front diff will come on other Toyota products, only time will tell.

    A. Why does Lexus insist on putting those birth control grills on their SUVs?

    B. Literally not a single LX buyer will ever be in a situaion where he needs a front locker.

People spend $15,000 to turn their $50,000 truck into a $10,000 camper then fill it with $25,000 in upgrades so they can live like people from the Grapes of Wrath. Of course they will pay that.
