Well, for whatever reason, my completely stock 2010 just loves to go through these dang shafts.

The last one I put in lasted 25 months. Or probably 24k miles. It was an inexpensive aftermarket one from Amazon. About $50 with a 2 year warranty.

I tried the diy greaseable u joint upgrade. That lasted a month or two.

Now I have to decide if I want to try another Amazon special or bite the bullet and shell out $250 or so for the oem.

    All stock, baby!
The OEM shafts don’t go out quickly for most people that don’t live in a corrosive environment. I replaced mine because it looked really bad (although I’m in California, the truck started its life in Canada, then a couple of years in Utah) and I went with OEM. There shouldn’t normally be a lot of stress on that u-joint. Anything non-stock in your rig that might affect it?

Truck is bone stock and always has been.

I don’t have my maintenance records in front of me, but I believe the first shaft got play in it around 100k. Truck now has 175k on it and I’ve replaced the shaft at least 4 times.

I can't belive you are even considering another Crap-a-market part from Amazon.

Go OEM. Life is short. Stop spend what little time you have on earth replacing parts.

At least I’m getting pretty quick at changing them. Lol

I think it’s time for oem.

    180k mi on stock shaft.

are you telling me mine is bad? Why should I replace it?

I chill with one hand on the steering wheel and don’t drive it like a Porsche two hands 9 and 3. It’s not a Porsche.

I’m more concerned with the rubber steering bushing. Toyota tech told me best upgrade is weld it solid.

seems nobody does that. Not sure why.
