I didn't know you could send data over APRS, I thought it was just for broadcasting location. I never got that deep in my HAM journey to learn more about that, I just knew people used APRS to live track/broadcast locations. https://aprs.fi/#!lat=40&lng=-105

 

APRS or automatic packet reporting system is all about sending packet data not necessarily just a message. It can include location and gps data and I would say that is the most used function as once setup it does exactly as the name implies (automatically sends the packet data). However you are able to insert messages into these packets they show up like any other text or email.


Yes APRS can email too.

 

I give my wife that link and ask her to check my progress when I go out. If she doesn't see me moving as I should be she checks in via text message with APRS. I can also pull that up on a trip and check to see if another vehicle loses the group or is meeting at a campsite etc.


These messages are not private and some are stored for 14 days I believe

 

At least they’re honest about blatantly going out and generating revenue.

$64.81 for the cheapest wipers I could get for the van. That's crazy.
Hoping this is the last thing I ever replace on that old girl. Tires should be ok for the winter as long as it's not driven on the snow.

 

If you can't drive with those tires on the snow you likely won't be needing wipers either.. problem solved

FYI APS is on fall break next week. Then Cherry creek the week after. Lots of kids will be out & about!

 

I'm starting to feel my age.

With the house project from hell winding down I'm starting to take back my existing side of the house and move stuff into storage in the crawlspace and what's left of my shed.

On top of that I also shoveled out all the extra road base leftover from the driveway project... to ensure the soil doesn't get fucked up so I can replant everything along the sides in the spring.

My back is so jacked up. To the point I'm looking at $9000 hot tubs to soak my sorry ass in.

I just went back to work after 3 months.
Man Monday was rough, as the week went on it got a little better. Today though im burnt, sometimes i wish i would like a IT job, something not quite as physical..
