Another week where Busch has a shot at a win and fucks himself over. Chastain was the next best car late though and well deserved win.

1 more year on that RCR contract and then what? They're building speed and consistency since Petree left, but it is too little too late. I wonder if Toyota would make a play to get him back somewhere like the 43?

I don't know. I think he's more committed to RCR than people realize out of their own wishful thinking. He even admitted in his post race interview that he tried to force himself in there and lost all air forcing him to get loose which definitely isn't on RCR. I think the desperation got to him a bit because a little more patience and he could have probably had the 14 in 3 and 4 and left the 1 battling the 14.

He'll have a shot at Talladega assuming lady luck is on his side. Not sure what realistic shots he has left after that for this year. Maybe Homestead and Vegas but I don't see him being competitive at Phoenix or Martinsville and probably not at the Roval either.

Good: NASCAR likely won't go to court because they don't want to open up their business info to prying eyes.

Bad: 23Xl and Front Row are told to kick rocks. The reverberations of kicking out 23XL in particular would haunt them forever, much like the previous oustings of Curtis Turner and Smokey Yunick, both whose legends grew despite outstings from NASCAR.

Ugly: In the wake of this, small grassroots tracks across the country supported by the NASCAR weekly series sponsorship could shut down. Likewise for Canada, Mexica and European series.

No one was afraid to go 3 and 4 wide until it was actually go time.

I know! To me Byron waited way too late to jump outside. And yet again a massive wreck caused by slow lap down cars messing with the pack

The excitement in the crowd, especially during that first 4-wide stint, was electric.

This race had all the things fans ask for:
    • Tight clean racing
    • 3 & 4-wide racing
    • 66 lead changes among 24 drivers
    • Great weather
    • A Big One
    • 3-wide finish with a .006 second margin of victory
    • An underdog, 1-car team taking the win
If r/NASCAR whines about this race, they're just insufferable at this point.

We did the Saturday garage pass. It was $38 for adults and $18 for kids. We arrived when the gates opened, got close to all the Cup cars, and met Hocevar, Chastain, Wallace, and Burton. We saw Buescher, Reddick, Logano, and Blaney, but a throng of people were around them. The Big Bill's open area car displays covered the 1950s to 2000s. Very cool! Concessions were $2 drinks and $4 plates (burger & fries, chicken strips & fries, etc). Full bar with specials. We sat near Richard Childress for Xfinity qualifying and stood near McDowell in victory lane for the Busch Pole Award. The weather was a little warm on both days, but we persisted through it.

Also, largest number of cars taken out in a single wreck, 28!
