Geez... Cookie escaped the back yard this morning. Sandy gave chase. I'm taking my meds. Cookie comes home and I let her in the back door. Sandy comes back crying, thinking she lost my dog . I'm holding Cookie on my lap. Sandy gets mad at me and Cookie. FML....
All OK now

 

Glad to know all are safe and at home.

 

We were at elevation to see the comet. Wind was constant. Wind chill was down to the 40s

Got all bundled up and went to sleep. Around 0200 the wind stopped and the temp went to about 70° i was in an oven

That was so unfair of you

 

Today would have been my Dad's 96th birthday. He passed in 2013, just days shy of his 85th.

In honor of the many hunting trips we shared on his birthday over the years, here are a few pics from an Elk hunt we went on in Vernal, Utah, his 75th birthday year.

Our camp. This was an Army WW2 surplus tent that my Dad bought and had lengthened. He bought it after he came home from Korea, in the early 1950's. He used it for the better part of 60 years worth of hunting trips, most long before I was born, or old enough to go with him. It was challenging in heavy snow, or extreme cold years, but it got the job done. That's Dad near the tent door.


Coming to a roadblock while out hunting. We drove around in his 1996 Toyota, as it was much easier than trying to squeeze into tight places in my full sized Dodge (seen in the above pic, in front of the Toyota). We drove my Dodge from home to the camp site, towing the Toyota behind it, both trucks loaded with gear. That's an extra 30 gallon fuel tank in the bed of the Toyota.

One day the weather was not too good, and we needed a run into town for supplies, so my Dad decided we should take a little extra drive to go visit Dinosaur National Monument, east of Vernal.



And a leg bone next to Dad, for scale / comparison.

Good evening. Spent the day yesterday traveling to and from Spokane for a visit to my daughter’s hospital room. Not as young as I used to be…it’s about 5 hours each way. Made for a long day and I find myself exhausted. But it was worth it as we were able to hug our daughter and rejoice that she is still with us and functioning at full capacity. Doctor released her today and she is now back home. Incredibly thankful.
