That’s the thing. They looked great all the way up to putting on the ceramic coat. After using the ceramic wipe horizontally as instructed it looked like crap. Oh well. Guess I have to buy another and start over.

Yeah. You don’t want to see any sanding marks in either direction. Before putting on the ceramic coating. It should look like this. I now use an orbital sander. With the foam sanding pads. It makes it much easier to get a good uniform sanding. IMG_0251.jpg

I was thinking about using an orbital sander but the directions for the Cerakote kit specifically said NOT to use circular motions. Hmmm

I used the same kit and did use circular motions. It looks good.

Thanks for sharing this. I saw your post for this phone mount and then bought it. This thing is solid. I have had a couple of chep ones in the past but gave up. I took this on a really rough trail and it doesn't move at all or drop the phone.

If you don’t that’s fine too. You just need to sand horizontally and vertically till all the scratch marks are gone. Also when you use a random orbital you are not going in circles it a completely random pattern.

I found it on tacovinyl.com. I was a little hesitant since there are a couple horror stories on here, but they were super nice and helpful on the phone and shipped it out same day. I'm happy with the service and the quality. Plus I couldn't find any other decent looking paint-matched grilles.

Well hell I guess I'm using my random orbital sander then!

My grille surround flew off in the freeway last night, scared the livin’ shit out of me because it crashed into my windshield first before it flew away behind me

Drove back to try and find it and no luck:notsure:

Washed and detailed the truck this morning and it doesn’t look half bad after it’s clean and shiny…still trying to find out if I can get a hold of just the surround part….anyone know if they’re sold separately from the actual grille itself?:help:

After getting the steering rack replaced my traction control light was on. Tried the reset jumper wire method, tried the remove the fuse method, tried the disconnect the battery method. Finally I came across the jumper wire pump your break method and poof all is good and gone.
Then I turned my seatbelt chime off again and my lock/unlocked chime off again. Oh yeah filled up with gas too.
    Busy day.

Crossed 100k of my own miles! Bought her with 56k, now at almost 157k!

Chasing a tramlining and steering slop/clunk though. Replaced intermediate steering shaft but found my 20k mile ball joint boot on the uca is torn wide open…also one bolt on the sway bar mount is loose and spinning in the frame. Obviously these things don’t help but it feels like more…Wondering if all front ball joints are bad? Or wheel bearings (did those 30-50k ago but not top of the line parts)…hm.

Wow, that's crazy! I know I couldn't find any paint-matched surrounds from any dealers (all listed discontinued or out of stock), but I'm on a 2015. Good luck!

Removed bed rack for winter…the way I’m feeling…think I may get rid of the bed rack in the spring. Really digging the look without it.

Got halfway done installing new LCA’s, JDFab UCA’s, and cleaning up the shocks and wheel well. All new parts are OEM. Figured if the old stuff lasted 140k I should go OEM again.

I now see I need spindle gussets ASAP since now they look so wimpy compared to the UCA. IMG_7581.jpg

Been a while since I’ve been on here, only update is I finally got around to making the “Access Cab Dog Platform” that I’ve been putting off for about 2 years. Will take a road trip with the two dogs tomorrow to see how it does.
