I'll take off work tomorrow and drive across the country if you can find me one 4-door long bed Tacoma with heated seats in any trim or color and a manual.

I'll save you some effort. They don't exist. Hence why I learned to use the sort mode.

But it's fine, it's a truck. I keep the sports car around for 3 pedal shenanigans

If you off-road, S-mode is often more useful than the brake pedal. Using brakes on loose dirt, downhill, curving road can be hazardous. I use S-mode to create engine-braking and minimize the skidding from brake pedal use.

I'm in the exact same boat. The ECT does make an improved difference but I didn't buy the truck to have to press this button every time I get in. The "s" mode works well also, but again, same answer. I'm getting the OTT soon, as many here and elsewhere have said it is worth the money to get rid of the awful gear hunting and shift points. For me it ruins the truck entirely so if the OTT fixes it, I'm all in.

My two cents as I just got mine yesterday lol. ECT does definitely make a very minor difference but as someone else said I figured out that I needed to push down on the pedal more than I thought and that helped alot.
Hard to explain i guess but basically a learning curve on how much you push down. Turning off the a/c also gives it a boost. Also what is the “s” mode?

From D, move the shifter to the left. S-mode limits the upper gear the transmission will use but not the ONLY gear. For towing, people will limit to S-4 because when it shifts to 5 or 6 the revs drop too low for maximum towing torque. As I explained, I use S-mode to engine-brake on loose-dirt-downhill-curvy-road for offroading, as braking-only can cause a skid which is bad at altitude.

Or use S-mode in slow traffic on paved roads to limit the amount of braking needed.

Thanks, I’ll mess around with it tomorrow on the way to work. I have to say I understand why I see so many of these trucks on the road. They are really nice, so happy my son pushed me towards a taco

It absolutely does give Toyota a bulletproof reason to deny warranty coverage on an engine or transmission failure if it can be attributed in anyway to it operating outside of Toyota’s parameters.

Thanks i thought i just read to use s mode at hwy speeds to limit to either 4th or 5th gear but if not towing you would want to use 6 speed correct?
I also just read someone explain how these engines need to get to a minimum of 3800 rpm to get max hp so basically they need to be and are designed to be revved which makes me think back to what i was thinking about needing to push down on the petal more. Perhaps it was a fear of pushing down too much and just something to get used to doing if that makes sense.
Next step is nerf bars then eventually at some point some different rims and maybe at tires but afraid the upgraded rims and tires would really make it bog down

S4 or S5 can be useful at highway speeds on long downhills to keep brakes from heating up. As to "revs too high" ... S-mode sometimes helps (shallow downhill) but may also be too much for the engine (very steep downhills).

If you are looking for an "absolute perfect answer" you will probably not get one here.

I'm 99.9% sure they do not offer it in a long box option unless it's an access cab. ACLB or DCSB are the only options which sucks for all of us that require a DCLB lay out

While in theory this is correct with any modification made to the vehicle, has there been a denied warranty claim due specifically to a tune or OTT in particular? I was unable to find an instance before I had the tune done.

I haven’t seen anything posted about it. The 3.5L is underpowered enough that even a tune isn’t pushing limits. Most of the engine failures are obvious mechanical failures unrelated to a tune.

OK. do this, with ECT OFF cruise down a road say at 40 MPH. Holding steady at 40 push the ECT button, it will feel like the truck is breaking. There is your answer, not a placebo!

LED interior, license plate, and fog lights. More to come.
DCLB with a manual trans is not available in the US but I believe it is in Canada. The availability of a manual is what got me looking at a Taco but a DCLB manual not being available here is what led to my getting an auto. For me a DCLB was more important than a manual.

The idea is keep quiet, no say anything. I did OTT Tune few months back, on my 2023 Tacoma. I went to my Toyota dealer this past weekend for service, dealer never said anything. I got other mods on my 2023 Tacoma, dealer never said anything, also.:D

I have the ECT on at start mod. when i took it in for the coolant pipe fix i can push the ECT button for 5 seconds and it takes it out of the "on at start mode", so that's what i did since i knew they would be test driving it. did not want to take any chances..

They certainly can weigh you down. That is why I bought C load tires (avoided E) and got SCS F5’s because they are lighter than the stock wheels. TE37’s are crazy light if you can afford them.
