That's what I thought after reading my OM for my SR. I had 3 quarts of diff oil but had to go buy an extra qt. at the parts store to top it up. Not sure but now I'm curious about my rear gear ratio...
Not curious enough to verify though, I've been driving it for 2.5 years now....

I added the extra quart with no problem, had to stick my pinkie in the fill hole to make sure the oil was near the top....it was.

Just checking in, has this issue been resolved? Crawled under the truck to find seepage around the rear diff no leakage yet. Cleaned it with degreaser and will be monitoring from here on out. Called toyota to express my concerns but after reading a few threads on here about this issue the dealership will absolutely be last resort.

Stock wheels and suspension. Random "utilitarian" mods featured on this great forum.
My weeping went away after a few hundred miles. But I also did a two way diff breather/relocation so not sure if that helped or is related. There is a TSB to retorque the nuts.

I would disregard and accept the seepage rate provided it doesn’t increase. The diff gasket for the mating surface is a paper-like material and if you think about it some seepage is expected. Mine seeped in the beginning but now it does not.

Try retorquing the nuts before anything else.
