Maybe you have to consider how your 2024 Tacoma is not your 2006 Ranger nor is it other vehicles. In my long time shopping and testing there were fleet vehicles, rentals, and the others we own. All have differences. Our 12 year old car with CVT has more clunk and jerk plus always has.

A 2024 Jeep I rented for almost 2000 miles with 500 mi to start was a comparative junk show. Someone could get one of those to have even more software complaints than a Toyota, more safety system false positives and that POS had a defroster that didn't always work.

So far getting a new gen Tacoma is like our getting two other new gen Toyotas. A few issues where they stand behind what they make. When they were new forums and mail lists were full of complaints. A short 1-3 years later they were considered excellent choices and were premium priced in used market.

first transmission has 3k miles on it has "problems". first shop says no duplicate. second also. but then "checks fluid" thats code for they knew you were complaining about something and they knew there were complaints of bad transmissions. so they fudged the "shavings in fluid to get you a new one.... problem is there was nothing wrong with the first one or the second one thats why the problem is still there. and when field service engineer came and test drove it he thought the same thing.. just because you dont like what is does doesnt mean its broke. belive me field service engineers are very good at what they do and they do not want mad customers. they have no skin in the game to hold parts back from fixing a vehicle.

    might be in your head...
you also could jump in 4 other trucks & compare...
youre going to feel something in a perfectly running vehicle when placing it in drive...
At one point in your rambling you mentioned going from reverse to drive, you will feel that more-so....
If there was something to fix, they would have fixed it....

    Theyre not all good...
FSE that came-out to inspect my paint issues, wanted to color sand the various panels, hood, doors, bed, etc... ok, fine, its going to need a repaint most likely...
Things got sketchy when the worst panel of them all, the roof....
His recommendation & suggestion to toyota corporate was to do nothing about the roof, cuz, "nobody sees the roof"................:frusty:
I have this in writing, I have it sketched out on a repair order by the fse...
I was verbally told this by the service manager....

Quite a leap of logic to conclude the metal in the fluid was essentially made up to allow for a warranty repair. Particularly when many dealerships will avoid warranty work unless it’s clearly necessary due to the smaller margins.

Well, since the OP drove the truck for 3,000 miles before the issues started, I think he/she may know the difference between a trans that is working properly, and one that isn't.

Sounds like we may be victim blaming here...

been working at a dealer for 18 years... ive seen the lets just swap a part to "fix" the customer.. when it doesnt work you now have a customer who 100% belives there is a problem with their vehicle even if there is not because you admitted it was a problem. there in just because you dont like it doesnt mean its broken..

    Its not the 90's....
Most manufacturers dont just allow you to shwag a transinacan at it without codes being recorded into the system, pictures being uploaded showing metal debris, justifying the replacement....
Todays obd systems, the second you scan the pcm, ecm, etc, manf, has access to all of it automagically...
Youre suggested days are mostly over as everyone, dealers, manufacturers are all pinching pennies, covering their asses, justifying every dime / repair, etc...
Last thing a dealer wants to do is roll the dice on a trans replacement due to a little bump when you pop it in drive....
Tech gets backflagged for not following protocol, improper documentation, etc...
Been& then have toyota kick the warranty claim & deny paying any of it, Dealers out $5k+... in the game for 32 years.....

I get, everything can be fabricated, but dont think theyre going to jump through a bunch of un-necessary hoops to toss a trans at it for a legit NPF, due to a crybaby customer in this situation,

so if the OP says he is still experiencing all the same issues with the new transmission. should they put another new trans in it and hope for a different outcome?

at this point, i think OP's only option is to complain enough until they agree to a buyback. they're not giving him another transmission.

no, they the fse, manager, shop foreman, etc, should drive 2 other vehicles with the customer & show him, its normal....
dont just tell him, have him experience it also...
ive done it with many of my customers...
    nothing to hide...

complaining gets you nowhere, you need to go through the process, get your ducks in a row, etc...
nobody wants to do the work, they just want to complain...
toyota has its own Arbitration dept, dont need an attorney...
most manf do, as they dont want to add additional customer attorney fees into the equation.

if it truly is an aggressive clunk between gears, there could be something wrong with the new trans, line pressures, etc...
but this guy has buyers remorse written all over him from a dealers perspective.

ha, yes i meant complain appropriately, in the formal sense - not just bellyaching.

you and i are in agreement.

Not sure what your point is?
My point is not all FSE’s are making smart, the best decisions….
Mechanical or otherwise, how can an FSC State in their right mind, I acknowledge your roof is fucked up, but nobody ever sees it so we’re not gonna fix it…

Its default from the factory is automatic. In and out of park. Is definitely very noticeable when you disengage it.

What does it take to turn of the auto parking brake?

I don't think I'd like the auto setting, never drove anything with an auto parking brake maybe it's not too bad? Can't say I like the idea of it.

May as well get rid of park if the brake is going to be auto, even if the electronic brake isn't auto park could still be eliminated.
