Thank God for YouTube. Figured out how to cut OD threads on the lathe. This was a practice piece, now to the real one. I’ve cut threads on a manual lathe before, about 20 years ago.

The only thing I'd have accomplished is making big round into smaller (maybe) still round. Nice work

The friend really knows how to pick a project, and better yet, he is far more intelligent in picking out a master to manage the project!

Good evening crew, not much to report from the disaster cleanup zone other than we moved something like 30 super sacks of PVC compound and fixed holes in them. They are trash now! They cleaned out our work area today and we finally got a key for the rental squeeze forklift .

Tomorrow it gets the 7/8-6 left handed acme tap.

 

Ex-coworker and his brother came by today. 1st time I’ve seen him in 10 weeks. Said he’s retiring. I told him I understand but I’d miss him, I learned a lot about machining from him the 29 years we’ve worked together.

 

Think of all the things you get to teach a new coworker!

 

Fully agree! Pay it forward. Tribal knowledge is a real thing. I learned my craft from a 25 year employee and I’m now 17 years in
