seriously though, i work really closely with a guy that was in prison for some time. he was telling me the other day that the prison he was at, about half the inmates were there over not paying child support, which is one of those things that gets more confusing the more one thinks about it...

 

I never understood how one could pay bills from prison if they couldn’t pay them out of prison

 

I figured a clip board and a lime green vest, a person can get away with anything these days

 

how is it not cheaper to just buy the guy a $2k beater for the season?

 

that's really only fun when they want to learn though.

i went through a spat of about 10 apprentices that were all 'smarter' than i was. and that was how all them came and went over a 3 year span...

 

like i said. more confusing the longer one thinks about it...

 

There just aren't really $2K beater trucks that will pass inspection around here anymore.
No $500 - $1000 cars either...

 

I fear those days are over. Sad as I really enjoy beater vehicles

 

Hey here’s a little secret…they might have a corner on black market underwear. My friend was a correctional officer at a maximum security prison where the inmates got 30 pairs of underwear each month. They also got 100 sheets of paper and 50 envelopes. Just a word to the wise to use caution if you order underwear online and it comes in a white envelope with a handwritten note…

We haven't had any bordering on scandalous innuendo in the shop all week...

 

they're still around. there's a roofing supply place in a neighboring town, they've got 3 vehicles sitting out front.. an explorer for $700, that's even more rotted out than that chevy, a minimal rust cr-v from down south but 300k miles for $3k, and a forgettable toyota/honda car for $2k...

and across the street from that is a salvage yard that keeps a number of 'ok' vehicles out front for under $4k...

as long as one isn't picky about things like matching tires, color, or working a/c, there's still a bunch of vehicles in the $1k-3k range. it just takes a little more digging than the local news paper classifieds to find them anymore.

@RustyGreen , prolly been cheaper, time and money wise, to do a frame swap on that baby

 

Crisp 35 now. Gonna be a day at the disaster cleanup zone. I'll try to get some more pictures of the process. Supervisor is off today sooo we'll see how that goes. Hopefully I'm solidifying my job by going in to help with the cleanup.
We found a JCB skid steer that got flooded maybe it'll be cheap and easy to purchase.
