My favorite are the ones that are listed for private-party sale, lien and all.

The mechanic that fixed my engine is now saying it’s gonna be a couple hundred bucks just to diagnose the AC, and is trying to say I should get new LBJs after prying them from the LCAs, even though mine are OEM with less than 20,000 miles on them. I really thought he was a straight shooter, but I’m starting to wonder. Oh well, maybe I better just drive it how it is and hope it doesn’t leave me stranded on the way to Idaho.

You don't need AC right now, it's cool up here finally. 20k on OEM bjs is fine, send em

Yea he was trying to tell me he wouldn’t rust the joints since separating them from the control arms might damage them or stress the metal. Dan said that sounded absurd on the ball joint thread though.

If I had 20k miles on OEM ball joints, I wouldn't be asking to get my ball joints inspected

I need my lower control arms replaced, and he seemed to think the ball joints would be compromised after prying them off the LCAs and should be replaced as well. This was the first I’d heard of that however.

    Why would you replace LCA's?

Did they get bent? Rusted through?

The bushings are shot, which prevents the truck from holding an alignment. I already have Moog replacement units and just need them installed. Another ship quoted me over $800 in labor, which seemed crazy just for the control arms.

    Gotcha

I'll admit I don't have much experience with rust buckets but I found it super easy replacing the bushings on my LCA's as I swapped over to Whitelines

You bought tires what, less than a year ago? An alignment should've been done long ago

I doubt another thousand miles will do any more damage; find someone to help you replace them

Why would he be PRYING them out? Seems like he should have the proper tools to do this.

He just seemed to think he couldn’t separate them without tearing the boot or warping the metal somehow. Maybe he was just trying to upsell me idk.
