    Hey all,

I was out wheeling at Operation Desert Fun in Ocotillo last weekend, and just now noticed this. This whole knob seems to have sheared off, surely now sitting somewhere on a rock in the desert.

Does this warrant replacing the tire? The previous owner put these on recently, and there’s plenty of tread left on it. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like either the manufacturer warranty or the Discount Tire warranty apply to anyone but the purchaser (who has since moved across the country).

Wanted to see what you all think before ponying up. PO didn’t replace the spare of course, so swapping it with that isn’t an option. So really I may need 2 new tires.

Doesn't appear to have damaged the structure of the tire, I'd run it as long as the tires aren't too old.

Best news I’ve heard all week, thank you. Yeah they’re not old at all, not even a year. Well under 10k miles.

No critical damage. But it will probably chunk off more as you turn on the road.just keep an eye on it.

Noted, thank you. Fortunately I don’t commute, this truck sees more dirt than pavement. Thats said, I’m sure all it’ll take is one inconveniently placed sharp rock to end this tire’s life lol

In my younger days I once had an entire interior knob go missing. Either the rock I was on sheared it like a surgeon or the tire had a defect. It ran for another year before the set needed replacing.

    I say run it.

Will do. Honestly as long as I can get another year out of them I’ll be happy. Come bonus time next year I’d like to get a better quality set of tires. These are Corsa all-terrains, and tbh I don’t think I’ve run a shittier tire on any car in my life. I just don’t have the cash at the moment to upgrade.
On that note, anyone have any recommendations for a good AT tire that doesn’t totally break the bank?

Both cheap and good: find a brand name that isn't KO2 or in an LT load range. On most days the best bang-for-bucks have been the Falkens and the Toyos, but on occasion a Cooper Disco or a Goodyear will sneak into the bargain bin. Cross check a few sizes and widths that your wheels can handle - there will be surprising differences in price.
