The old guys might get a kick out of this one. I had bought the Maisto Bandit T/A at BJs awhile back as they're only $16.99. Maisto also released a blue T/A variant which was originally usually only at Costco. I was super interested in getting that one, but only at the $16.99 price point. Imagine my surprise when I was in there and I saw them.

    IMG_7017.jpg

Decided I needed to do late 1970s style build and found a set of Cragar SS wheels with a deep dish rear and white letter tires. GMP sold parts that fit the bill.
    IMG_7087.jpg

    Car blown apart
    IMG_7089.jpg

    New tires...beefy.
    IMG_7092.jpg

Popped the wheels off the axle bushings and carefully drilled out the GMP centers to 1/4" ID. The rear wheels split in half making drilling simple. The front didn't so I had to be super careful not to drill too car.
    IMG_7090.jpg

I adjusted the rear springs for some killer rake.
    IMG_7094.jpg

Test fitting the rear wheels and checking the rake.
    IMG_7093.jpg

Fitting the front wheels and checking the lowering of the front end, which I accomplished by cutting the front springs and stretching to get the height I wanted.
    IMG_7095.jpg

Final beauty shot and comparison to the Bandit T/A. I haven't unboxed my second blue T/A yet.

Nice job! Those cars are nice as well. I've seen those wheels but haven't tried them out on large scales yet. I have a 40 Ford Coupe 1/18 scale and similar wheels to make the swap but I'm still looking for parts to make a Gasser suspension before I attempt this. I like seeing other people doing this. You now have something nobody else has.

Factory 2-inch lift kit with Toyota Heritage Grille. Added some heritage color tri-color vinyl to hood and rear.

Very nice....a neighbor in the area growing up had the bandit...he had pretty girlfriends too....he always drove his T/A around with no shirt and T-tops off... and he also had a V45 Magna that he cruised around with and wore no shoes while doing so....cool guy....at least I thought he was as a teenager. Blaring "heard it from a friend" from REO Speedwagon didn't hurt his image of coolness back then lol. I picked up some cars/trucks at Costco for my self...can't go wrong with the 69 Charger!

I can see the 57 on the doors so I’m going to assume it’s something to do with 57 anniversary?

can’t see it that good on my phone.

Yes, it's the HWs 57th Anniversary set... there's likely 2 sets of 5 and/or 6 each. Each set will have a Gold Chase

Somebody was asking if these were made a while back I think. At this point it could be 200 pages back though...

Hopefully I will. I've been looking a little but live has also been throwing curve balls so I've been busy.
My buddy I go wheeling with pretty often drives a Gladiator. Maybe I'll find that one for him too. His wife and mine are best friends so our families are pretty close. I got their kid one those bigger scale gladiators for his birthday just a couple months ago.
