Went to a Halloween bike night on Friday at a local shop (SoCal Superbikes) and decided to run the bike on the dyno. I'll be putting an upgraded airbox on soon so I wanted to get some before numbers. Now, time for front pads before Buttonwillow with @TacoTyusday on Monday!:bikewheelie:

Trading my 2016 S1000XR to a guy in Bend, Oregon for his 2021 Husky 701 Supermoto w/ an Akrapovic exhaust, rottweiler intake, and powercommander. He had a loan on it, so he's paid it off and we're now just waiting on title to arrive before we swap.

    Nice!!

I also paid off my AT last week. But my bank told me they have a 10 day hold to make sure funds are clear, and then they transfer it to the DMV. If I dont pick it up in 10 days, they mail it to me. Hope yours is faster.

I am in the beginning stages of bike shopping myself :anonymous:

His bank told him he should have it in 2 weeks, I'm not as optimistic, I'd guess a month but really hope I'm wrong. I'd love to get out for longer rides on it before it gets into the 30's and 40's.

    out of curiosity...

did your bike come with a front sprocket cover that you removed? or did it come exposed from factory?

toying with the idea of removing mine, trying to determine if there's any reason not to.

Came with a cover but haven’t put it back on yet since the front sprocket is fighting me to come off. Mine might stay off with the gold chain as I left it off on my dual sport with the issues and since it’s thin plastic won’t do much if the chain breaks

gotcha. yeah mine is pretty thin plastic too, and from what I can gather there is a case saving component underneath the cover that is more important.

mostly I just wanna remove it for cleaning purposes.

yes exactly this, a broken chain can cause a cracked case and most oem plastic sprocket guards have a metal piece behind it that is there to prevent the chain hitting the case

its important to keep in mind that not all aftermarket sprocket guards are case savers and not all case savers are sprocket guards

a case saver is cheap insurance though when you consider the price of replacing a cracked case

Speaking from experience, it's not fun.

I'm not that diligent since my quickshifter is in the way. I probably get in there once a month vs cleaning the chain every week. hence the want to remove it lol

most definitely. in the case of my bike, it seems the case saver is a separate piece that gets sandwhiched underneath the sprocket cover. looks like I'd either need different bolts or an aftermarket sprocket guard. but at least the option is there
