I have also seen all the posts about people getting their tailgates stolen…it makes me nervous!

How does that work? You just order a paint pen in the same color as the truck? I obviously have zero experience with this type of thing lol

 

Brazed steel frames are fun. I like the swept back handle bars on the Trek. I have a hard time finding stems for the Univega- it's a 1" threaded headset. I can't do the old school "hunched over" attack style of riding from when this bike was new. I'm trying to get it into more of a crusier style of seating position. It's hard to believe that I bought it brand new in 1987 in Carlsbad, CA.

 

Yep. Is yours midnight metallic black too? I can’t remember if it changed back to regular black in 2021.

Yep! Mine is midnight metallic black, the one with the little blue flakes. I didn’t realize you could get a pen that’s the same color, I figured I would have to take it to a shop or something.

I can take a pic of the scratch tomorrow when it’s light out, it’s like 1.5” long. She smashed our dog ramp right into it

 

Oof. But yeah, you can get a pen for about $10. It’s not going to be a perfect finish unless you’re planning on buffing and polishing.

There is a top coat and a base coat offered. I’m trying to find my order to see what I had gotten.

I’ve had plenty of little scratches and dings from trails and gravel and pin stripes but this one takes the cake hahah

 

Might not be a bad idea to call the local dealer. I think it’s 218 base coat you need. Might need the top coat too though. I’ve only used the base when I did the little touch ups.

 

Yeah that’s a good idea, it can’t hurt to ask. They’ll probably tell me to bring it in and then tell me I need a new transmission or something lol

 

I must have bought it from the dealer, I can’t find any emails or Amazon purchases on it. I’ll find the pen tomorrow and send you a pic

I bought some black touch-up paint for chip I got on the front roof section. Here's part of my trip to Easton, MD where I bought my truck.

Prices went up at the Toyota parts dept. I stopped by Koons to get a fresh tube of the black FIPG. $24... ouch. It was around $18 when I got a tube last spring.

 

Yeah, I need wiper Inserts, been afraid to go in to dealer for this reason...and also afraid because the nearest dealer is koons...
