IMG_7407.jpg IMG_7406.jpg hey y’all! don’t know if anyone remembers but i’ve got the hand me down, 510,550 mile tacoma that i refused to let die, which is finally running! and now registered as of tuesday. neat!

but i decided to sit next to the idling truck for about 15 minutes earlier because my spidey senses were tingling, and of course, a pretty sizable puddle of oil formed pretty quick!

so obviously! the oil pan gasket is shot since it’s hanging out. but the whole engine bay is filled with grime. my guess is maybe the oil is dripping onto a belt and flinging everywhere? so nice and cakey.

additionally the thing hadn’t ran in three years until i got it running, and it was never taken care of other than fluids: what do i need to replace all over to prolong this thing? thanks y’all! glad to finally be on the road! (or the side of the road lol)

With 510k miles and not run in 3 years.
I bet that crank seal is shot.

But you need to spray it down engine degreaser and see where it is coming from.
That's about the best way to pin point it.

fixed the oil pan gasket and it has significantly slowed down the leak. cleaned it up and you’re right about crank seal. as it breaks down carbon and grime, it’s caused other leaks. thanks for help!

Also looks like it's leaking from the oilpump gasket in that pic with a pulley. Common on these trucks when they're high mileage (280,000+)
