The bike is still at @Modern.Hermit 's, but i think it's fine

    I finally got a cast Tuesday. I get a walking cast in 2 weeks, I'll have that for 4 to 6 weeks.....then a boot for 4 to 8 weeks.

Man, that's a bummer. At least it's happening in the off season, though, right?

hope to have the chance at some point. My girlfriend is from there. Lots of family, so we get there from time to time. This time I made her my fiancé, made a party out of it. Her one cousin was sponsored by the Ducati shop there back in the 80s, still rides.

I was past your place this weekend too. Rode from my place to Oxnard for some fish tacos with @medicfung Then hit PCH to Mulholland on the way back, which was completely empty surprisingly. Got rid of my chicken strips and even dragged a little toe. Clocked 160 miles in total.

We really could ride most of the year here. Very few truly cold days....at least what I consider cold.

i’ll be interested in the numbers after airbox update.

Are you doing RSV4 airbox with OFT or Gabro’s airbox and Up-Map??

    I went RSV4 w/OFT.

Them Flyhammer covers are nice. IMO The added brace for the shifter is worth the $$$
I haven’t pulled the trigger on one yet….I trimmed my cover to see the sprocket and chain

Man, that kinda makes the injury worse then. I'm sorry, bud.

How's the pain and just general day to day adjustment with the cast going?

Did a hundred mile day Monday with 75% being single track and only crossing over the same path twice to get gas and to get back to my buddies place. Beat the shit outta me but the colors in the pines were poppin.

New can installed. I don't hate it. I pulled the baffle, I didn't pull the baffle last time I had a Delkevic on this bike, but I did this time. It's really aggressive sounding - so I likely won't keep it unbaffled. Or I might until I get enough money under me to get a yoshimura rs4 the works can. Who knows. Either way, it's back in service.

This was my 2005 Roadster 1200 build a couple years back. Has a jockey (suicide) shifter on the other side. A 1200cc motorcycle is not a girls bike, I would hear that too and it is just dumb. That would be like calling a Honda Rebel 1100 a girls bike which it is not.

Having spent several years working for a Harley dealership I heard that far too many times to even begin to count. I had to enlighten quite a few hardcore "bikers" that the power to weight ratio on the Sportster was actually superior to most Big Twins. The Sportster is no slouch. I'm friends with a guy who has done the Iron Butt Rally 5 times on his Sporty that now shows almost 350k miles.

    That bike looks terrific!

    Here's mine:

I've swapped the seat out and replaced the headlight and turn signals with LEDs since this image was taken

Thats no slouch of a day. I dont even come close to that kind of mileage in a day. More like 30.

Yeah our average rides are 30-40, once in a while we push and do 100 mile goal days. We started at 9:15, my buddy bounced around 2 when we stopped for gas at 58 miles and I continued on solo to hit my hundred goal by 4:45. To say it beat my ass is an understatement. But I have a dual sport in the pines coming up (hammer run, one of the best in NJ) that's like 100 miles saturday, 70ish sunday, and then I have an enduro the week after so really trying to get after it.

You guys are just lucky to have 'roads' close to home. Here in Central Indiana, unless you just wanna ride in a straight line with the occasional 90 degree turn...it's 70 miles to get TO the roads, then snake around on the twisties, then ride home. so 140 miles is the price of admission, and hopefully another 60-80 of 'riding'. I of course do have a my after supper/before sunset out of the garage 20 mile loop just to warm the motor and feel the vibes, but it's not much to write home about.

Here's my friend Chris's 2005 Sportster before the start of the last Iron Butt Rally in 2023.

Twin disc Roadster front end with braided stainless brake lines, LED headlight and auxiliary lights, mid controls plus footboards, Tour Pak mounted on top of a "pizza box" aux fuel cell giving him a total of almost 9 gallons of fuel and mounted over the pillion seat to give hmm a back rest.

These aren't "roads" this is tight twisty single track.

    Stuff like this:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfiDROTHTaM

If I was riding street I would have a similar ride up north to actual good riding roads. The roads I grew up by were amazing.
