Funny you talks about the "price of admission". In 2019 my g/f and I got pulled over in Vermont. We had been on this great 2-lane road, posted at 55 for miles and as we entered a small town it dropped to 30 and I didn't slow enough in time. I saw the lights on the cop car go on before I even got passed him and just pulled over in front of him. He really didn't even have to move his car. Removed our helmets and I handed over the paperwork and was very polite the entire time. Dianne said "I thought you'd be more pissed off about this". I laughed and said, "are you kidding? All the times we've gotten away with stuff that could have had me hauled in like passing on a double yellow in a no passing zone or hitting triple digits? I figure we've already ridden the rides now I just have to pay the entrance fee"

If you ever need suspension work look up ktune suspension. He is out your way and he's done the work on my bikes. He races the enduros out there, not sure what series but A pace and a lot of riders on his suspension.

Have you done anything to your suspension? Cause if its stock there is much better to be had, lol

The previous owner had it done by WER iirc. Front has Dal Saggio cartridges, think the rear was just changed springs. It does desperately need to be tuned for my weight and experience though because the guy I got it from was a super senior a rider and I am not. Going to try Solid Performance since I ride rocks too and they can hopefully set me up better for both rocks and sand.

EDIT - Just looked up ktune and it looks like they deal with the rocks a ton too. I thought they were one of the south jersey suspension guys but maybe I am thinking of someone else.

My plan is to do Gabro's box and map. That should give me a decent amount of mid to top end power right where the curve flattens out. Looking at the AFR, as it is, there's still meat on the bone. I wish it was a little cooler, but the dyno cell was toasty, so that didn't help. I'll be happy with 175 @ the wheel, if I can get there.

    Pics of yours!

I thought I was going to have the pay the fee Wednesday morning on the way to work.. had just pulled out of my driveway, hit the 1-2 shift doing about 40 in a 25, and saw a cop about to turn onto the road. Luckily the S1000XR engine brakes like a mofo. Vroom shift idle haha. Traffic downtown so I took a back road, luckily he didn't follow me longer, and then as I'm about to join the main road, same thing again 1-2 shift cop. Got VERY lucky twice. And it was city police, not campus PD. If it was campus PD I'd stand a good chance of knowing the officer and hopefully getting laughed at instead of a ticket.

That being said, somehow someway, I've never gotten a ticket on the motorcycle, only in cars. Washington has a no-chase policy for motorcycles, so I've always wondered if that influences them to just let it go/not worth the hassle of a runner if they tried to pull a bike over.

    Congrats!

If you ever get the chance, highway 154 to Cold Springs Tavern is a really fun ride to a great little biker spot with some of the best tri-tip sandos and live music on most weekends. You could make a loop of it by going all the way to Solvang and hopping back on the 101N in Buellton.

Technical Q - can I get away with a lighter fork oil to increase rebound speed? Only have compression adjustment, and that already is almost all the way out (14 out of 16 CCW). Hoping to avoid re-valve, though over winter I could certainly make time for it.

I haven't had to take a pain pill since leaving the hospital after the second surgery. I can't wait for the 29th when I can get into a walking cast. After that, I think I'll be a lot better. Doc says walking cast for 4 to 6 weeks, then a boot for 4 to 8 weeks.

Yeah, I'm at least lucky enough to not be in pain. Just going a little stir crazy

Yeah, but it'll affect your compression too in the same way.

I've changed weights in both the F800GS and the Grom to help out with movement speeds (in both of those I went heavier weights to slow compression/rebound)

    Thanks. Long overdue.

It'll happen. We'll probably take a couple weeks next year. Rent a bike from GTM if he's still at it.

Definitely give ktune a shout. He's super helpful and communicative. Prices are fair too. Hes done both my forks and shock and continues talking with him throughout rides.

He's in newfoundland. Wherever that is. Ha.

Good to know. Being so far out already on the CMP side I'm hoping I can dial it back to normal by closing it in. Figure oil is the easiest and cheapest to try.

My vintage Honda uses ATF in the front forks.
