    Well crap,
I came to tell my story about the mistake of taking the wife by the dealership but now all the posts on the 2024's are making me double take!

    So the story;
Ive been a tacoma owner since my early twenties. Ive had now 8 Tacoma's and the wife always gave me crap, she was a full size truck girl (central florida offspring). Ive always preferred manual and currently drive a 2015 4.0l 6spd. All the kids had manual taco's to start with.
Ive tried for years to get the wife into a tacoma. In early 2016, we were out looking for the next vehicle and went by a few different dealerships until I finally convinced her to drive a 4-runner that was murdered out.
I had everything set up for her to come in and drive it but when we came in the doors, there was a dealer modified TRD Off-Road (done by Graham Rayal- Bobby Rahal son). Called the Graham Rahal Performance package. That is the truck photo on my username. Its truck #1 of the ones he has completed.
So we walked out with the Tacoma and I finally converted her. Its a win Ill take.
She is now all taco and loves her truck and defends it like a true tacoma owner should. I may never get her out of a Tacoma.
So all is fine and dandy until I think its a good idea to see whats new on the lot. I had been looking over the new I-Force max and Trailhunter etc. I was curious to see the changes in person.
    Mistake #2
    I took her with me....

Agreed but I am a little jealous! Ive owned every generation Tacoma at some point in time and this Imax is interesting. Its weird to be in a taco that has that type of power and trq but I do notice its not speedy, not that I want that but it definitely puts you back in your seat.
I wish they offered the pro in manual.
Ill be heading back to the dealership at some point to test drive the new manual. I would need the dbl cab, long bed to make it work for me though.

So did she want the truck or did you convince her with showing a shiny new toy … if that’s the case she will be trading in for the vehicle she wants in a few months … never ever …ever try to convince her of what they should want let them decide on their own they will be happier .

No, we were already on the hunt for something newer for her and she was looking at both a Tacoma and a Tundra. We are post kids, so this was a decision for her without any reservations. She got what she wanted. She said the seat wrapped her in a tight hug and spoke her language, lol. It just turned out to be a TRD Pro.......I mean of course!

Damn, this thread makes me grateful I married a woman who cares about literally only 3 things about her cars: safe, reliable, and paid off.

Leaves a lot of runway for me on my side of the driveway!

No way. Letting her decide would equate to an unreliable pos with no trade in value in my case. She can have choices, that's all. Right now the options are a new venza, rav4, hybrid rav4. This allows her to drive trouble free for years which is the most important factor. No time for bad choices in vehicles.

This is making me think of my situation. We picked up our new Tacoma on Monday and I've gotten to drive it twice since then. I get up every morning and the spot in the driveway where it's parked is suspiciously empty, yet the spot where my wife's car is parked is definitely full.

It might be that "her car" is my car now...
