Going to get a new set of tires. Probably 265/70/17’s
I don’t want to loose any mileage as it’s bad enough as it is but want the best bang for the buck tire.
I rarely go off road not to say I won’t. We have been getting about a week or so of snow and ice a year.
Just hate having a 4WD with street tires.
    I’ve narrowed it down to,
    BFG KO3’s
    Cooper Stringhold
    Wildpeak AT4
    Toyo AT3

I know everyone here loves the Wildpeak’s
Any of the others worth the extra money?

    Thanks Guys!

Michelin Defenders would fit your criteria pretty well.

    Toyo AT3 or Wildpeak AT4. I run Toyo AT3's.

I have wildpeaks at3s in 265/70r16. Love them and works great in the snow. Almost to 50k miles and they have some tread left. Will have to replace soon.

Just wish they were a tad cheaper.

Since they are your only, and very small, connection to the road, I tend to go for a great grip in how I use the vehicle 90% of the time.

Once close options there are established, then I consider looks, tread wear, etc.

BFG ko2s or 3s. Either way they look great with that size and stock setup!

Seems like people are liking the 3’s the say quieter and a little less aggressive as the ko2 which fits the bill but the others have better warranty

I got a sticker and some cool valve stem caps...
Toyo at3 will b the lightest, like 41lbs... So, probably the best mpg

I put the same size Toyo AT3 on my ‘21 the day I got it. I’m a newer Tacoma owner but have put 5k on them in the two months I’ve owned it between daily driving, a trip to Chicago and several camping trips, a couple of them being a lot of Northern Michigan snowmobile trail driving. They handle great on wet or dry pavement and in the sandy and clay-heavy dirt where I do most of my off road driving I’ve had no complaints. They’re well within the acceptable noise range for me with highway driving, you’ll notice them, but it’s a subtle hum more than a constant droning sound. They also won’t sound annoying to other vehicles on the road.

I’ll add that I’m not one to buy tires for looks, I want an all-terrain to perform all its duties well and have decent tread life, but the in-between look of these is a plus for me. Aggressive enough to look the part on a 4x4 that you take off road, but nowhere close to looking bro-y. I consider that a check mark in the pros column for these tires. Sort of a sleeper in terms of aesthetic, where people who know their stuff will notice, but folks at the grocery store won’t necessarily spot the difference between the tires on your truck and those on the Orkin fleet Tacoma you park next to.

FWIW I had BFGs on another vehicle I traded in for the Tacoma in a different size as well. Had the same issue with wet traction that others in other threads have mentioned. Other than that they were a good tire and performed well in snow, sand, mud, you name it. If I lived in a drier climate I’d say it’s a toss up between the AT3 and KO2, but the wet pavement performance has made me super happy with the Toyos so I’d recommend them for these trucks for anyone.

Check weight of new tires and compare it with stock. I installed falken wildpeak at4w and these tires are 20lbs heavier than stock one. After installation I tuned my truck with OTT cause acceleration was worse than before...

BFG user for 28 years and switched to TOYO AT2s and now on the AT3s. I can honestly say that BFGs look the best of any tire there but they are not like they use to be or mother tire manufactures are just ahead of the game. The BFGs are great in the sand but suck in the rain and are hard to keep balanced.

My Wildpeaks have been great after 1 season in the snow, but my Duratracs were the best. I wish Duratracs came in my size.

But Duratracs are much too aggressive for most street drivers.....

Best tires I had for snow were General Grabber ATX. Quiet and good wet and dry, and in moderate mud as well. Look alot like the BFGs but better grip.
I am currently running Dextero DAT1 tires I got from Walmart due to a funds availability issue at the time. They (Dextero) now have a tire plant in S.C. and are the same company that makes the GT Radial brand I believe. Really liking them so far. Good dry and wet, very quiet too but haven't had in snow or mud yet, although a coworker has been running a set for a couple years and said they are good in snow and wear well. They are also lighter so mileage is a little better. I like the looks too, but best part is were only about $150/tire, so like $100 per less than the big brand names. Not sure what sizes they are available in though. I am running LT265/75-16.
Just looked them up, they do come in a P265/70-17, weigh 38.3 lb each and are only $122/tire.

Goodyear Ultra Terrain, which is only available at Discount Tire/Americas Tire, are a solid option at a reasonable price. I have put 12,000 miles on these tires in 8 months and can report excellent tread wear. Traction in the snow was excellent and the tires are quiet on the freeway.

I get it. But I’m so tired of the drone and crappy wet road performance of AT/MTs. I’ve decided on Michelin Defenders for my next tire when these horrible duratracs wear out. My second choice would be Continental TerrainContact AT.

Have you look at the falken rubitreks. they range from 155.00-160ish on tires easy.com. I have a set i will be mounting before winter. The ones I have are P245/75/16 and weight 40 lbs. They are the same tire as a wildpeak with less tread depth and a different tread design.
