Seems odd that it wouldn't considering its a lot of the same makeup. Think the reason its double cabs as of now is because the door peels a lot vertically at the window on the back side next to the c pillar.

Yeah knock on wood mine starts with a 5 and I haven't seen any spots yet but every time I wash it I'm waiting for my heart to drop seeing the flaking.

I would expect that the only failure being covered is the substantial flaking. Unless 3rd Gen paint is different, no clear coat on this color so you might look into doing some buffing/polishing to get the roof back to glossy.

I'll give that a try. And that's right forgot there's no clear.

If you want the roof and hood to be painted, it should not cost that much out of pocket if Toyota is not covering that. Especially if they are painting nearly the rest of the truck. Your truck is going to look like shit with old janky paint and fresh smooth paint in other areas. I know nobody wants to come out of pocket for anything, but in this case I think it's a fair trade.

Worst case, if you have a truck that peeling on most of the body panels, get the 5000psi pressure washer out and make sure the other panels are peeling too.

    Bummer.
Mine is a VIN #3xxx, produced in October of 2023.
No peeling so far, but it only has 2,000 miles on it < grin >

I just received official “remedy” paperwork from Toyota to fix the white paint.
Basically said Toyota is committed to… yada yada yada… contact an official dealer.

So we will see how that goes.

I believe only model years up to 2022 are covered. You may be fine.

Just got my letter yesterday. The 10 year time period is good. I have a 2019 built in Baja; so far no issues.

I have been trying to get my paint fixed for 3 years now.

The original letter covered all kinds of vehicles. Now, it’s just the double cab that was produced at a specific manufacturing plant. I find it interesting that the letter doesn’t state which one.

I see wide spread white paint failures on Dodge, Chevy and others.

The chemistry problem must be very pervasive.

Took my work truck in, and the collision center is currently processing the photos from the inspection and sending off to Toyota Corporate to start the service process. Apparently the bed front, hood, and front cab wear spots were new to the guy who did my inspection, and we both noted those weren't highlighted in the service bulletin as well know areas to check, so we figured it likely would take a bit more time to get things processed as a result.

My white 2022 with a vin 3 ….. built in Baja has shown no issues yet. This makes me sick to think about it might start peeling off.

I dropped mine off last Friday, body shop told me it’d take 8 to 10 days to complete. They’ll be stripping the 4 doors and fenders down to bare metal and starting from scratch. That’s were their exact words.

Mine is flaking on all 4 doors, inner fender, hood and under the hood, roof where the front shield meets..... And I haven't gotten. My 2nd letter yet. And by the timeline it took 1 yr apart for aknowledge to a fix letter.....
If any guys in the socal area. I think the Riverside one uses Hamblin as their paint shop and heard they do real good work, wondering if it's still true from pre covid to bow as things changed

I spoke with my local dealer's service lead. He said he's seen this a lot. We have a local body shop they send the vehicles to. I looked at mine closely in all the noted areas and found zero indications of incipient flaking or peeling. And apparently the Toyota letter says they'll cover this for up to 10 years after purchase. Mine is a 2019 DC built in Baja.

Yes. Mine went in the shop Tuesday for paint and they gave me a corolla to drive while they're painting the truck.
