This will be my build thread. Just a little backround, I had lived fulltime out of a van for awhile so I have kinda turned into a minimilist in alot of ways. So keeping with that theme I want to keep this build fairly simple and light. I travel during the winter months usually out West so having a 4x4 was important for me in my travels and get me off the beaten path. For now I've prepped my bedrails for my GFC topper being installed end of January. Not sure if I want to do a lift or not but leaning in that direction not planning on doing any crazy trails. Did do a trail here in Virginia completly stock and only scrapped my bottom once. After the topper the plan is for tires and then skid plates later next year after I start working again. Also looking to get cat guards soon. This build will take awhile as i need to save throughout the year for my winter travel plans.

Did some final prep for my GFC topper install. Filled the gap on the bedrail towards the cab. Used 3M strip chaulk and black RTV over that to seal it. After my trip driving down to Florida last month my legs were fatigued. So installed seat jackers and will see how they go driving up to New York this weekend. Feel good so far.

So plans have changed. Sold the topper and now looking at a slide in camper. Was going to do that this year but with suspension upgrades needed and tires I really didn't want to spend all that this year. The focus now is wheels and tires and skid plates. Nomad is having a sale right now but my head is spinning with all the options. Can anyone suggest a wheel and tire that is not too heavy, overall my build will be around 1000 lbs so keep that in mind since I have a powerhouse 4 banger:rofl:

Here's a temp solution to get me out and about so I can save for a camper. Looking to get tires real soon.

Got Goodyear Wrangler Ultraterrians 265/75/16 yesterday. Took them out on some gravel roads and on trail all within four hours. They did great.

I've never heard of those. They look pretty sturdy. Mine isn't that nice but it was cheap!

Your topper looks like it is an inch or so too far back. Or is that just the angle?

The topper isn't a exact fit. On the sides they come out a bit but I haven't had any water come in. This a temp solution until I can get a camper and if I move I can do that no problem.

What is the brand name of the shell? It's close to what I'm looking for, but I'm on the other side of the continent . . .
