Official TSB for automatic trans failure from Toyota.

Newbie here.. can someone please explain if my truck is affected I’m confused how to tell by the vin number. Any guidance will be much appreciated.

you just match up the leading characters of your VIN to the corresponding leading characters in the list and see if your numbers at the end are lower - takes maybe 10 seconds

 

Your 037449 number is lower than the 041152 number - so you’re in

 

Yours is lower that the one highlighted....therefor it was made prior to the change taking place.

Your number is less than 41152 which are the last numbers in your VIN. The 41152 indicate the serial number and the numbers and letters that proceed the 41152 detail what and where it was built.

 

I'm sure Carvana or Carmax would take it off your hands.

 

So I am in for a new trans if mine fails?

You are not in the the ones being part of the TSB,pretty easy to check the chart yourself

 

I did check the chart forgot to pay attention to the JN versus FN

 

Took mine to the dealer for weird shifts, harsh Engagement into drive, reverse, park, etc. was told everything was fine and sent me on my way, which I totally expected to be the answer

No it didn’t. In the trucks defense and Toyota dealers defense, it doesn’t do it constantly. Sometimes the shifts are perfect and sometimes it shifts smoothly in and out of park , reverse, drive.

 

Well, at least you have a report in the system about it. This will help later on if needed.
