I've heard of more outlandish ideas....
There's plenty of camping options around. It all depends on finding a route worthy of WI Tacos & BFA.

Our current explorations take us down many many dark paths of the unknown, dead ends and broken dreams.
We cover a very little amount of ground in a lot of time.

 

During our last Adventure with Pat the topic of music was talked about.

Truck looks pretty much like a mall crawler again...I'll probably go, as long as I'm not the only one.

 

Change in plans and we're going on adventure tomorrow.

Exploring to the east of CTY H.

I haven't been on any of these roads so expect the unexpected.
Could be country roads. Could be tight n scratchy with little to no turnarounds.

 

I do the same thing-have for years now-to get from Ashland to Minocqua. I can do all but a few miles on dirt through beautiful country in the Penokee Mnts, marsh/lake lands to the east and then some tribal lands.

 

Takes a lot of time...finding a route.
With all the ...dead ends, back tracking and 'nope, not a trail' or is it???'

Much appreciation for putting together the fall run.

 

Today's journey takes us to see what this spot on the map is all about.

The road stops. The road starts.
Lots of rock showing on the water.
Maybe it's crossable. (for 3rd gens)

 

Well, if a 3rd gen can make it, should be a cake walk for 2nd gens and 4Runners.

 

That's a given.
I have to go and make sure it IS ok for 3rd gens.

 

It looks interesting! I'll be looking forward to a report later.

Not to join in on the generational bashing fun, but here I go......

In our rather experienced ATR group this year, every single second gen went down with major problems.

None of the third gens had any issues.














And the 4 Runners didn't show up. (But the FJs did, also without issue)





Anyways, back to your regularly scheduled programming

 

If an FJ Cruiser can do it, so can a 4Runner. And, the 4Runner can do it without looking like a Jeep fucked a football helmet.

 

Because... the 3rd gen guys aren't pushing it because they are still making payments and cannot afford the breakage... opps, I meant to say glory!

 

Need I remind you of a paid in full access cab that recently burned through a transfer case?

 

I hold last minute impromptu outings so I don't have to feed anybody. lol
Cast iron basil grilled cheese, out on the trail.
We know how to party.

 

The water crossing I went looking for is certainly doable.

Only it appears someone doesn't want anyone doing it.

With the help of @Pixeltim chainsaw, to clear a downed pine tree, we could get around.

So that last trip to Tigerton was fun! Now it’s going to be expensive…. I knew I got into a bit of rock when I got turtles and had Adam pull me out. Been hearing a slight ticking sound on hard take offs…. The shaft is a bit bent as it now hits the carrier bearing cradle when I punch it. Guess I’m a front wheel drive guy for a while.
