Whats the consensus with adding a supercharger to a truck with more than 100,000 miles? Is this a no-go or has anyone done it? Would it be recommended to add ARP studs or would that even help. Just curious what the community thinks about doing this with the 4.0l. Thanks

Because the motor can handle it or more like "screw, do it just because"?

I supercharged mine at 105k miles and have put 20k on it since. I wouldn't worry about SC a high mileage truck as long as all the maintenance has been performed as recommended and the frame is in good shape.

She's loose for boost. My truck has 165k and I turbocharged it, pushes 13psi happily.

To feel better about your choice a pre install compression test along with a Blackstone oil analysis would help confirm the health of the engine.

Dang, thats awesome. Did you do anything to the engine to help secure its safety like changing out head bolts or adding any additives etc?

Did you add headbolts or change head gasket or anything like that? What about a tune afterwards? Thanks for responding though, the alike comments are making me feel a little better about making that plunge!

Definitely going to need a tune that is appropriate for your setup. There are plenty that specialize in the HP Tuners program for these trucks though that could set you up with the goods I'm sure. I have a first gen so I had to install a standalone engine computer and remove the stock one haha. I haven't installed headbolts yet, I don't think the 2nd gen trucks need them for what that blower can produce.

Mine's not as high, but I just installed the SC at 90K+ miles. No issues. Runs great. No other mods or services to make it run other than a tune.

I SC'd @ like 110k mi. Do it , it'll blow all the carbon out. You don't need to worry about internals until you plan on pushing it well beyond what a stock system delivers.

Just the supercharger and fresh fluids (diffs, transfer case, coolant, transmission, motor oil, brake fluid).

About 12k of the 20k I've put on it has been towing my 3,500lb off road trailer.

Installed one on mine at roughly 113,xxx. Put about 1500 miles on it so far. No regrets. Send it.

I don’t see what difference mileage makes on a maintained 1GR.
