    I you remember I had mine up on top of the rack. 33's were a pain, but 35's sucked. And then there was the day I sent it and broke the mounting bolts and the spare went for a ride...

    @rubbersidedown , do you have any plans for a platform, or any built-in storage? If so, you could set it up so that the spare would lay flat underneath. Although, if you were going to sleep on it, I'd imagine you wouldn't want to make it that tall.

    Just throwing out ideas. Maybe one will be a winner.

    I spent several years wrestling with this problem. At one point I had four different iterations of tire storage laying around in my driveway. Flatbed is far and away the best solution I have come up with... Not for everyone I get it, but those tires are big and there is no easy way to do it. Put it up and you run into CG issues like a 4Runner. Bed, you lose practicality. Off the back it becomes a WAY longer boi and visibility goes away. I'm the only one I know of in this group that has flatted while playing (in Moab no less) so maybe trust to lady luck and just not run one. Dirty dog dare ya!

    @rubbersidedown , here's your answer. :D

    Are you referring to the center of gravity?

    I don't think it's nearly as bad as you seem to think it is.

    The problem, if there is one, is probably caused by folks who put giant roof racks on and load hundreds of LBS of gear up there.

    Dude... took the bait! Probably right, but it does sound reasonable when I watch Stoney wheeling

    That's kinda sweet.
    Not the same though I did let some air out of the spare.
    I have onboard air.....doesn't need to be a 30psi just sitting there.

    Probably gained 6 cubic inches of bed space. lol

    It’s like anything else, depends how crazy you go. A few lbs don’t make that much different but a 3” lift with no sway bars, a 50 lb roof rack, 200+ lbs RTT, awning, etc adds up and definitely makes a difference

    I definitely noticed it on my tundra when I had the habitat - which is ~400 lbs and not all of that is up highly. That’s why I added the rear sway bar. There was also a couple hill climbs it was very noticeable how much more weight was in the back

    Are you just trolling me again? :oops:

    I really do think the issue is generally self inflicted. If you think about it, it's only a few more feet of roof line over a Taco.

    That said, I certainly have felt nervous on a few obstacles.. usually while you're telling me that I'm "fine", and just "keep going." :rofl:

    Well, if you normally run the spare at 32psi and drop it down to say 15psi for storage use, you save that 17 lbs on the roff, that would help with lowering the CG and stuff.

    Yeah, but there's more steel in my frame, which helps balance it out. ;)
