I had your setup on my 2016 Tacoma and it was perfect, do you have one for the 4Runner? If not can I help you get one going with any test truck need?

    Thanks!

This has come up a little bit buuuuut, the "trouble" is with the fact that taillights are inside on the T4R so the Taco/Tundra design would thus have trouble exiting.

A "universal DIR" might be cool though using a T off the 7 pin and I have some spare 7 pin T's w reverse from vled LPX development if you can locate and identify license plate intercepts and/or the bulb adapter connector? We also want to know where to mount the relay and the requisite lengths of the two arms.

I am happy to take anything apart. What's step 1?
    - seeing the last connect before the license plate bulb
    - identify mount location somewhere for a standard relay?
    - other/more?
I am a bit non-electrical but I can be coached

I think you summed it up. Some numbers and photos and see if the plate bulb connector has a 5 digit number on it but I might recognize it by photo alone.

But, thinking about it more, the plate bulbs are in the lift-door right? So, if we did a universal we'd have the opposite problem, sending wire into the cab from outside.

    sigh.

I think maybe it would require everything inside? I think the taillight is a 6 way unsealed IIRC? But the plate stuff I haven't ever seen a good photo of.

Yes, plate is in the hatch. I'll get a few photos as I can and perhaps a solution can come together. Happy to iterate... priority is a new clutch in the Jeep but that shouldn't kill me.

Cool, try to document the best path. I do have some unsealed relays. This one doesn't seem quite as clean as others but if there's interest and it's not too much of a pain I can try to slate it into the product pipeline. I forget if I have the taillight connectors or I haven't yet bought them.
