My guess is you'll be happy with it. Just follow the instructions and it'll put a smile on your face. It's very impressive the throttle response it has but to be fair it's not exactly stock either.

About 80% of it was one 5ah battery.

Edit: That was cutting a poplar tree which is pretty soft wood. Later that day I cut a birch which is about twice as hard and based on the added time and effort it would probably take twice as much battery for the same amount of wood. I only cut about 10 feet though (about 7 cuts).

I have a Husqvarna 346xp, 2004 vin5age that I have used for everything until last fall when I added a big brother Stihl 500i, both stock and fit the bill for everything I need. Added the 500i because I had the opportunity to buck up some 30" hard maple trees taken down along a roadside near me. What a fun saw, great hp to weight ratio.

I have a tiny Milwaukee m12 hatchet (6" bar) in a packout that never leaves the truck & a makita 36v (2x18v) 16" bar that I bring when camping/heading deep into the backcountry. I have extra batteries+chargers for both in the truck running off a 2nd battery/solar. Its nice to not have to worry about gas and so far they've handled everything I've needed them to.

That's my youngest grandson (2), him and his brother(3.5) are chainsaw fanatics and are constantly wielding them. That maple was almost taller than him ha. I'm familiar with Husky model, this stihl has a pull cord and purrs upon pulling. Came with a extra plastic chain for spare. I have 3 different brands for 3 grandsons, they do not share very often.

These monster Detroit motors are worth mentioning. Two stroke madness from GM. The engine sound is the best ever, from idle to WOT.

New girl in town. Picked up a new 500 and decided to give the lightweight bar a try. I am impressed how much lighter it is compared to the regular rollomatic e bar. The 28” is just over a pound lighter than the standard bar in the same length. The 28 is even .75 pounds lighter than the regular 25”. One pound difference isn’t a ton if we’re talking about the power head but even a few ounces is noticeable when it’s out in the bar. Anyway, still have to get a max air flow filter to keep the fines out of the cylinder. Other than that she’s ready to eat.

So I've seen a few mods available for the MS261c. CNC Ported mufflers, felling dogs, ect. What brands is everyone running on their stihl saws?

I don’t do much to my small saws. 261 gets down with just a little better air flow. I usually do the “fish gill” mod to the muffler or you can get a little port to add like west coast saws has. I like west coasts felling dogs for the bigger saws. The dogs are a little bit bigger than I need being an east coaster but the stock ones always seem to be just too small to get a good bite on the wood.

Great day to check the tune on the bored/stroker 136cc 3120FP motor. I’m timing a different sized stinger. Good fun stuff.
