Absolutely! Only 280K on the ODO, and they average around 13 MPG, according to Fuelly.

Especially don’t do it from right to left!
I honestly think that is the best name ever for a boat. It can be funny, ironic, truthful, and hopeful all at the same time!

@rubbersidedown More spitballing…How about making a platform, but put the spare on top of it? It only needs be high enough to get your feet under it for camping. Mount it dish style so you can use the inside of the wheel for camping storage. This is all assuming it has enough strong tie downs to use to actually mount the platform solidly.

Funny, I was out staring at the bed earlier today and the platform idea did occur to me. There may be a solution there somehow...

Heh. That won't work all that well with my 5 tire rotation system. It's neat, but I have to wonder how many Audi and Porsche owners look at it and the inflation kit and say "F this! I just got my nails done," and call AAA.

    :duh:

Yeah, wheeling in Arkansas convinced me that making my long boi a longer boi with a swing out mount was a non-starter.

...And I'm not taking that dare.

It's not only the rack and a 90 lb spare, it's getting to that stuff up there. I don't usually carry a ladder. Easier when you have a bed to stand in. It's gotta go in the bed somehow.

That's an interesting thought. Might limit visibility through the back a bit, but I should consider this.

I already have my eye on one of these, which give me more bed space for stretching out when camping.

Thanks for all of the ideas guys! It will be a fun winter project to figure out my truck camping situation. I'll be ready with something before KenTWucky!

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
I know this guy. He probably has enough square tubing laying around that would make a great platform. A little cutting, a few welds, attach a piece of plywood or osb to the top and viola! It could sit on the shelf thingys and easily be strapped down to the corner eyes...

    We could discuss tomorrow...

So a sleeping platform with a spare tire right underneath? I see no downside to that.
