    this ended up being a great time! We had a turnout of 13 rigs and hit a pair of t trails. Everyone did great and we even got out and scooped a cool bridge

    Thoughts on hitting some trails this weekend?
    I'm planning on heading up around the tray mountain area to do some trails and camping with a couple inexperienced friends this weekend.
    Thinking it might be extra muddy and slippery, any recommendations on trails to hit or avoid?

    There’s a portion of the GA Traverse there that’s pretty nice. Lots of camp spots along the trail.

    Yep:rofl:, chainsaws in the truck now just in case.

    :thumbsup::thumbsup:
    That's the plan, head up Tray and then follow along the GAT heading east.
    Hoping to find a camp spot by around 4pm or so.

    Indian gap road (i think thats what it is called) is the only open entrance to tray mountain.

    Good to know. Thats the one that drops you in to a creek fording almost immediately, if I remember correctly. Good gauge for how deep/bad the rest of the crossings will be. :thumbsup:

    I'll probably go up Saturday or Sunday to look for some good campsites for later this fall and do a little fishing while I'm at it.

    I'm not in a flood plane so I was fine. West side of Atlanta, Wind was 20-30mph compared to the 50-70 anticipated. I hear people around other parts of Atlanta dealt with bad flooding

    I came in at Nimblewill Church and was around Winding Stair Gap and Rock Creek Rd, and there was almost no storm damage to mention. The only downed tree I saw was a small one in front of the Frank Gross campground, and you could still drive around it.

    We did. We came in from Indian Grave gap rd which was clear. Once on Tray there were a couple more trees down, they were already cut so we were able to make our way around. Until right after the 2 big houses. There was a larger tree across the road that the forest service team was working on but they said it would be a couple hours so we turned around and found a spot back on Indian Grave Gap to setup camp for the night. Next morning went back through to Tray and everything had been cleared out. pretty wet but nothing major.

    We went camping at Fort Yargo last weekend. I think I have a 1 night limit with my kids. My wife thinks that isn't worth the effort of setting up camp. We'll try again in the near future.

    She is also giving me crap for buying a twin air mattress, but I was the only one who woke up not sore. :thumbsup:

    Same crap everyone else got
    My sister and cousins where there last weekend too. If you saw a site with gray 4runner and a huge lifted GMC 2500 HD Denali, that was them.
    I agree with your wife, setting up camp and travel, and packing for kids camping is not worth it for just one night.
