Broke antenna

My Grandson broke the antenna off of my 2007 tacoma.

Man tried to "tap" out the part on the right front fender and screwed it up. Is there an easy way to replace that part without pulling the fender - they want $200 to do so?

I had to remove the inner plastic fender well to get up in there and the A piler inside even thou I don't have a shark fin the connector is still up in that area. It was def not a hard fix but it may take some time.

Tks Rock - Instead or the original longer antenna I have bought one of the ones about 10 inches or so and am looking at using some conductive epoxy to attach it to the old place. Downside would be it couldn't be taken through a car wash any more. I really like my truck but it seems almost everything one wants to do is a problem. It is a 2007 - I am 84 years old and it only has a little over 130K miles on it. Had a couple of dents taken out and repainted a few years ago and it looks brand new, inside and out.

 

I've heard and tried to loosen the base nut on mine and it doesn't want to budge, even soaking it with penetrating oil hasn't worked. I thought if I could loosen it, then I'd purchase a new antana and give the replacement a try as my reception is pretty poor. I even made a spanner-type tool to use.

 

dtaco, I tried to get that nut off as well and was not able to do so. Guess Toyota doesn't want it to ever come off, huh?

 

The carwash broke mine a long time ago. I superglued it back together and ran it like that for years. It would occasionally flop down and be crooked if it got hit, and i would just re-glue. It worked good and had perfect reception. I eventually ordered all the parts and replaced the whole assembly. I now carry an antenna tool and take it off before going through washes.

 

You used superglue? I was thinking of using epoxy but it would have to be the conductive type and all I can find of that is what is used by jewelers. Spoke to one and he said he didn't think it would be
strong enough to hold up very well.

 

I sure did. Loctite superglue gel. I covered the threads on the antenna bolt end, and threaded it in the best it would. Then, covered the joint where the two meet with more glue. I let it sit for a few hours before driving. I'm a cheapskate, and this worked for quite some time. It failed twice. Once, the antenna smacked a branch, and the other, i hit it with my snowbrush clearing snow. Your break may not be the same as mine was. I was able to at least catch a few threads when screwing it in. I eventually ended up doing the whole assembly replacement
