A click like that is one of the loudest sounds in the woods, only surpassed by a firing pin falling on empty space ! Heard it a few times myself!

Step father is up at the property this weekend, 3 stands put out on the plots, a bit late but better than never! Life happens. Excited for some fresh venison sticks and burgers

No sir, speaking on a click of a dented primer and no discharge or worse yet, falling on an empty chamber. I sat last till about an hour after daylight Saturday morn then happened to think, did I load the chamber? Then eased the bolt on the .280 to rack a shell as quietly as I could. Embarrassed to say I have dropped the hammer on both deer and turkeys on an empty chamber a few times. Have dented primers on bad shotgun shells on turkeys and quail a couple times. Never had my old side lock hang fire on me though. Guess I pay more attention with it. Just saying stuff like that happens if you hunt long enough and dang it if it ain’t usually at the worst time.

Well till you take a claw hammer to your turkey gun with iron sights and beat on it trying to move the dovetail just a tad, and going the wrong way, till you beat the damned brads completely loose and sight falls off, and all this at the height of turkey season, then you ain’t lived. Or shoot a damned tree a foot to the side of a turkey at 15 yards once or twice…..

Well it’s been two seasons ago but yes, still a vivid memory of the arrow a hair over a good bucks back and the whack into the bass of a big beech tree.
