Did a much needed oil and transmission fluid change. After 170k miles I don't think anybody had changed the transmission fluid before, and it looked more like bad motor oil than anything.

Took off the 1 inch wheel spacers that I had put on to clear the Tundra brakes. They were causing tire rub issues. Left the backs completely off, fronts I switched to 1/2 spacers and they clear the brakes fine. Had to put in extended studs, which actually wasn't to hard a job with a big honkin impact. Gained me some extra clearance that I really need.

Can you really say you put on enough fluid film if it doesn't drip in your hair a few times while applying?

Dont these make the wheels lug centric now instead of hub centric?

Essentially, yes. But when I drove it there was zero difference.
It should also be noted that I don't have stock wheels and need to use tapered seat lug nuts.

IMG_20241020_141420.jpgstarted the ruff job of replacing the steering rack and cleaning out the reservoir screen.

I've got the rack ready to come off except the high pressure line into the rack doesn't want to come off.
    IMG_20241021_182405.jpg
I broke the nut lose from the rack but the nut doesn't want to spin without twisting the hose. I sprayed it with a bunch of WD-40 and even tried to hit it with a little torch action but didn't want to get crazy with that.

Side note the passenger side boot had about 7 gallons of water in there.

Working on stripping down my 03 SR5 for some major work. Gearing up for a 2UZ swap from a doner 02 Tundra and whatever else I can get from it. Still a lot of work to be done but it is going to be worth it.

Since I couldn't get the high pressure line off I switched gears and focused the power steering reservoir screen, that thing was dirty.

    Before:
    IMG_20241022_130422.jpg

    IMG_20241022_130443.jpg

    After:
    IMG_20241022_134238.jpg

    IMG_20241022_134336.jpg

Started with a fresh bottle of carb/parts cleaner, soaked it in dish soap followed up with concentrated vinegar then emptied the entire can of carb cleaner and ran bunch of hot water through before drying it out with compressed air.
    IMG_20241022_141940.jpg
I left the hard lines on the old rack disconnected over night as well as the return line on top of the rack so the reservoir was empty when I pulled it off making for very little mess in the engine bay.

Inspired by the first post ever on this thread, I painted the floor trim. A small mod but to me it looks much nicer. IMG_8511.jpg

Ended up putting a pair of vice grips on the crimped portion of the high pressure hose to hold it in place and was able to get it off

Got the rack all buttoned back up and eyeballed the alignment, went to put my oil catch can away and found 2 small brass pieces and I have no idea where they came from.

Anyone know what these came from? My first thought are some sort of reducer or crush gasket for the hard lines but I'm at a loss with that one.

No it was in the bucket I used to collect the power steering fluid. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm 99% sure they go on the rack where the high and low pressure lines connect. I think the hard lines that run along the rack have them as well. If these are off the old rack than the new one should have them on it already.

I'm hoping they fell out of the hard lines on the old rack. I don't recall seeing them in the high pressure or return lines coming into and out of the rack. If you look at the picture side by side the new lines aren't screwed in very far but the old ones are screwed almost all the way in and i think it was even leaking a little bit still so a missing brass seal makes sense
