That does not look bad at all.
    Looks pretty good to me.

Have you checked the VVT Screen?
There is a screen that can get clogged and cause timing codes.

BTW, this is "bad" AKA: Stretched

I think I should change the oil and find that screen and clean it out. I’m afraid to start the truck ever again because of the noise it made. I’m positive nothing went into the block when I was getting the VVTs out but it did not want to start at all and when I finally got it to it was like a chunk of metal in a blender I shut it off within 3 or 4 seconds.

This should help with the screens.
But I am not sure what to make of the metal in a blender noise?

So why were you changing both OCVs in the first place? This is one of your pics from the first page. What is that? Doesnt look right

    upload_2024-10-23_7-37-23.png

Has the truck had regular oil changes? As TnShooter mentioned you can check one of the oil screens to see how it looks. Believe passenger side is easiest to get to behind the PS pump with a socket & some extensions. But tbh, if the truck has had regular oil changes that probably isnt your issue.

Id start with the P0020 code and electrical first. P0020 indicates an open or short on bank 2 sensor circuit. Possibly you damaged the sensor harness when you were replacing the OCV? You also mentioned issues with the "vvt connectors". Are those on the OCV or the sensor where you were having issues.

Is it possible that one of the phaser ears for the VVT is broken and rattling around inside. I've seen them broken before.
That might have been the issue in the first place

Omg that would suck! Dude guess what? I got it towed to the stealership to have them diag it and they said it sounds great. They’re going to take it for a spin and call me back.
Honestly i think I’m ready for a new truck

I assumed that if you are not controlling the VVT's the valve timing could be that far off to make the engine rattle something ugly...

Could it have been an issue with oil pressure I am thinking

A dirty VVT filter will cause oil flow/pressure issues.
But you need to get the sensor connector fixed first.
Or did you do that already?
