I must be crazy, I’m getting about 15-16 mixed and highway driving with my truck.
Usually about 10 in the dirt.
I also drive like a grandma on road and have a full front bumper, that may really help at higher speeds.

Also 2wd and likely an auto? I’m on 37’s beadlocks, have parachutes for fenders and as minimal of a front bumper as you can have, while turning 2500-2700 at highway speed because I’m a manual that’s geared low.

I drove my brothers 2nd gen taco with a manual and it's so fun. I really wish that I got my truck with one. I wonder how hard it would be to swap

All of the above. Didn’t realize you were on 37’s too. I got 35’s.
I definitely feel a difference if I have my bumper off for any reason and go above like 50mph.
Cruising at 70mph my rpm is about 2000 flat feet high helps for sure.

I’ll be needing new tires sooner than later and am super tempted to go with 37”. It’s not the smartest move and I don’t need them my any means. Most likely km3’s either way

Manual swaps are almost never too difficult. I’m sticking with 3 pedals no matter what in this truck. It’s just too much fun. Even if I eat a clutch every year.

My truck has been holding up incredibly well with 37’s. Minus destroying every steering setup it ever had until the swingset. I’m running 250w in the rear and even that has been holding up perfectly for the 4 years it’s been on 37’s. Zero comparison between 35’s and 37’s. I would never go back.

I mean the hardest part has gotta be all the computers and shit? Is the ECU different?

I believe the ECU is the same, just not pinned out for the trans. HP tuners should be able to make everything happy pretty easily. Normally all of the provisions for pedal etc are already there. Find a junk yard donor and steal all of the parts.

I could swear someone on here has done it, perhaps even with the better 3G man trans, and documented it in a thread. Maybe @DesertRatliff ?

I have done a manual conversion on my truck and since then put a RC62f in it. The RC62F is so much better in my opinion for the 2nd gen.

@SoonToBeOn39s is 3rd gen. But I can’t imagine the process being much different. Push button start however could take some time to figure out as I’m pretty sure that would be linked to park in the trans. But I imagine there’s an easy work around for it.

This guy did it with a 4th gen 4Runner 1GR. It's an A340, but similar. Very first post on the forum was impressive.

Pretty different though as the T4R hasn’t been offered manual since 3rd gens. The Tacoma at least has the provisions to run a manual and will be significantly easier.

I played it on its side and filled it up, now it's hydrolocked and won't compress all the way. What was your process? I dumped some out and it will extend a little further on its side but not enough to catch the next die hole.

The pedal frame work is already in place on the Tacoma I guess? I had no idea the 3rd gen clutch pedal is plastic.
