How about a hidden Murphy door? The trim would cover a lot.

So, I've had this ugly ass bush thing by the corner property line post (don't ask...). I've always hated it, even after trimming. Just didn't look right out there in the yard.

What it looked like when I bought the place.

Welp, today I got tired of it and went at it...

Removed, top soil spread out to try and level the area, and put down some grass seed.

No, the thing was right along the drain field for the septic. My luck the roots would have run deep and I would have done some expensive damage

Most of it was rotten anyways so it wasn't too bad. Worst part was they dumped all the construction debris in that area. Hell, could have been debris from a home from the 1700's. Whole area was a giant field waaaaaaay back in the day.

    Maybe a little strange question…

Has 5/8” Advantech been take off the market? Or is it just being diverted to disaster area repair? (In the past it works as a GREAT compromise of weight/support.)

It shows out of stock at HD and Lowes. It doesn't appear to be discontinued.

I’m replacing all my copper plumbing with PEX A in stages. I’m starting at the 2-2nd floor bathrooms. I will replace the entirety of remaining copper in time.
Has anyone done this? I’m no plumber but mechanically able. I’m just asking for tips…

Pex is run differently than other water systems. You need to run a control manifold for each individual line. Meaning you don't just Tee off a branch line for each end of line. Kind of like wiring with no Daisy chaining. If you are running it under a house or exposed basement rodents could be a problem.

Yes. I have the manifold. I’m just trying to conceive a plan for procedure, I’m not doing the entire house at this time. I just need to install the manifold with a bypass to allow for the remaining plumbing to stay active

Sat my fat rear end in it.
My parents house (~20 yrs old) has the central manifold in the utility room with individual tube runs to each fixture from there. My house (~3 years old) uses tees and branches pretty much just like copper would.

I’m also no plumber but have done some work with pex and found it pretty idiot proof. If you use the copper compression rings check them with the go/no-go gauge after you squish them. If you need to make joints in tight spaces the pinch ring version is probably easier. My pinch tool has an LED that lights up when it is appropriately pinched.

I will also add a disclaimer that I don’t remember the difference between PEX A and B and whatever else they have now, so all of this might be completely irrelevant for you. I’ve never used the version that needs the tube expanded before it gets stuck over a fitting.

PEX A is the expansion version. I have the Milwaukee expanding tool, like you said it appears to be easy. Thanks for the reply

PEX A doesn’t require the manifold. I’ve seen it used on new buildings but I’m redoing all my home water lines from copper to PEX A and using the traditional main branch and tee system. No reason you can’t do that. I have found PEX to be extremely easy to use and I’ve had no issues. I order a lot of my stuff from SupplyHouse because it was harder to find local but as time goes on I have more success finding parts local to me.

Yeah I read a bunch on the manifold system and the pro/con list of using one. I like the idea for sure. Just didn’t make sense for my remodel as I am slowly redoing everything when I get the chance. I’ve been very happy with SupplyHouse. Good prices and fast shipping. Happy to shop local when I can but it was hard when I made the switch a year or two ago

Hello everyone. I did the demo of the small deck, trying to knock out the last of the decking project while I have some time on my hands and the weather is nice.

The deck ledger was hung overtop of the aluminum siding that black-ish looking lower course is what the siding looked like, many moons ago.

I never paid attention to this bit of ugliness before I guess that this was someone's idea of a kicker board. The new ledger board will use up a bit of that real-estate, so I will pull that tomorrow and see how bad it is behind it. The rim joist seems fairly solid, no "soft" rot that I found when I attached the ledger for the big deck.
