camper from a early 90's pickup

Does anyone know or think that a camper shell from a 91 pickup would fit on a 96 taco? trying to score one for cheap haha.

 

I don't know for sure, but I HIGHLY doubt it.

 

Tape measure should answer your question if you can get to it. I think they might work depending on the model of the cap (IE: how wide the mounting flange is).

 

Pretty sure the beds are exactly the same size, so it should fit.

 

I was thinking the same, i think that the beds are the same, considering there isnt a really big difference between the pickup and a 1st gen taco

 

About the only thing the 1st gen's and the pickup have in common is they say toyota on the tailgate and the bolt pattern. Total clean sheet truck.

According to a quick google search, they are within an inch both ways, so you should be ok.

Pickup:
Outside dimensions were 76 long x 60 wide. Inside the rails (not on the floor) was 73 1/2 x 57.

Tacoma (these seem to be inside):

Length (in.) 74.50

Width at Wall (in.) 57.90
Depth (in.) 15.90

 

A shell fits more than the bed. It also is adjacent to the back of the cab. A properly fitting shell fits close to the back profile of the cab. Different modle years have differt profiles of the back of the cab.

 

Good point. As I found out (the hard way) a shell designed for an access cab does not fit a regular cab very well even though they have the same bed length.

 

I've owned both a '92 x-cab 4x4 and a '97 Tacoma x-cab 4x4....their ain't a whole lot of difference. Obviously there's some subtle measurement differences and a slightly redesigned body, but overall they are pretty similar trucks in design. The interiors could easily be confused for one another as well.
