I've always thought about putting a blow torch in the hole and igniting the f out of it.

I'm well aware. 3 yrs of doing pest control I've removed a fair amount of them from homes. They are the most aggressive this time of the year also.

i tried warning my neighbor, she can be a good deal ignorant though
hers is right up in the gable of her house, at this point I would not be surprised if they compromised some of the wood, carpenter bees can realy do a number

I doubt it. I just noticed it, as i generally don't pay attention to their property. The woman who lives there inherited the place from her grandparents. Her grandfather is rolling over in his grave I bet. That guy was the ultimate self sufficient country boy. He's the one that taught me how to get rid of a yellow jacket nest in the ground. he came at dusk with a can of gas and an apple off one of his trees. He poured the gas in and plugged the hole with an apple. We cam back several days later and the yellow jackets were dead. he would have taken that nest off long ago, himself. he used to catch skunks in a trap then put them out of their misery. Getting that close to a skunk is pure bravery.

This woman has bee there for 2 years and already caught the kitchen on fire. Her stove and oven laid for over a year in the yard after the fire department pulled it out. I don't want to give her any more ideas about how to burn down the house her grandfather built by hand, himself, years ago. that man was a legend. Some of the neighbors called him the "mayor" of our road.

I'd rather deal with hornets than yellow jackets. Hornets will dive bomb you before they will sting most of the time.
