    Update!!
So, yesterday I put the machine in and let it run for 90mins. This first time I did it with the windows completely closed. I took everything out like that was in the truck and pulled the cabin filter as some of you mentioned. Afterwards, I put my shop fan near the truck and ventilated for an hour.
I checked smell and it was better but not what I was looking for. So I hooked the machine back up, this time left 1 window cracked about an inch and ran another 90 mins. Then ventilated like before. The smell is definitely better but still not 100%.
The machine works and as one poster said, it might need several passes to get what I want.
I'm going to engage through the posts and choose a secondary method and give that a go. Not sure if in doing the smell bomb or the little bucket, I need to run through some reviews.
Much appreciated to everyone for the comments. The smell was enough to induce headaches for us non smokers. So I'm going to stay at it until I get it knocked out!

I might have to try this route. I was not even going to attempt the headliner, I thought it might stain. But attacking the smell directly might be a way to go. I did run the machine twice and it helped but there is plenty of room for improvement.

I ran the machine for a total of 3 hrs yesterday in 1.5 hr blocks with ventilation in between. I placed the machine on the enter counsel and did notice they vinyl behind the machine was glossy and a little soft. I wiped it down once I noticed it. I did the hold breath, open door, turn off machine and run method and had no issues to eyes or lungs.

The community advice definitely paid off. The machine worked like you mentioned but not 100%. I did remove and replace the cabin filter. I need to add 1 of the other methods given by the community to get this completely the way I want it.

I did buy the Ozium spray. How did you use it? Did you just spray it in the cabin or did you spray it directly on the problem areas like the headliner and visors etc? Any issues with staining?
Ill look into the organic methods as well.

You will probably think I'm off my rocker, but this worked for me. I bought an 07 Honda Civic as a commuter car awhile back, from the original owner's family. Heavily smoked in. At a friend's suggestion, I went to the store and bought the cheapest can of coffee they had. I split the can between 2 bowls, put one bowl under each front seat, and changed the cabin filter. I did use reseal-able bowls, and closed them up when I was driving (didn't want it dumped while moving). But if it was parked the bowls were open.

In just a few days (maybe a week), the smoke smell was virtually non-existent. I know is sounds crazy but it worked.

Having bought a house that was smoked in, the only thing that worked for me was scrubbing every surface that I could. I used a white cloth and every surface I touched it turned yellow and had a sticky nasty residue. I think the ozone works on the air, but you really have to remove the source.

I use it after I clean the ac coils. Open up the hood and spray it into the cowl intake vents while the air is on. Otherwise a light spray on the seats or near the floor seems to work.

Wife forgot a bag of frozen shrimp in the back of her Sequoia, left it in their the whole weekend in June.

I tried to clean it for 3 months, scrubbed down with every chemical I could find. They last and only thing worked was the Ozone generator.

I ran it for multiple days at 2 hours a session. It still has a rusty metal smell in it, but it's a million times better than the rotten seafood smell.

Dang, that's a rough one! Glad the generator worked. I'll keep at it with the generator as the smoke smell did come out by at least 50% from about 3 hours of running it. I'm going to try a few of the other good posts in this thread for removing the scent as well.

This one's is to easy to try and results come back that coffee grounds really do absorb smells. At this point, I'm already putting in the effort so might as well try what I can without causing damage to the truck or my body! So, I'll be trying this one for sure.

Take couple extra steps to help the situation. A lot of the bad stuff is stuck in the headliner, air ducts and coil. You can spray the duct foam(Toyota makes a kit, but $$$), get a few cabin air filters from AMZ, the cheaper the better. Soak the filters with Fabreez, or your chemical of choice, hook up a good charger to the battery, turn the blower fan on, let it run. I have tried left the doors windows open and closed and halfway closed. You never know which works for your vehicle.

You could ask a Flood Fire specialist if they can remove the smoke smell.

So I have to come back to this one. I did what you said and bought a can of folgers and a few cheapy plastic containers. I had the kid fill up three of the containers and leave them open when she wasnt driving. This is the beginning of day 5 and I went out to check her truck to see how its doing and Im freaking floored! Im dont know if the smell will stay gone but man, the smell has significantly decreased from what was left over after the ozone machine.
So if anyone comes back to this thread, I used an ozone machine for approx 3 hours, ventilated for another 3 hours and then coffee grounds in 3 separate containers for 5 days and more than 90% of the inundated smoke smell has been cleared out. Much appreciate all the comments on this one.

I previously used these machines on a car that had a smoke odor. I ran it for about 15-20 minutes. From what I've read in reviews, running the machine for extended periods could damage the interior, potentially leading to melting or cracking of the trim. To effectively eliminate odors from the AC system, it's essential to run the machine while the AC blower is set to maximum. In my experience, the car will initially smell like chlorine, similar to a swimming pool smell, which can last for weeks, but it gradually improves. However, it’s important to note that the smell may not completely disappear.
