so i got my shark mesh band and didn't realize that it needed to be cut to size.... well that took about 30mins or so of snip, snip, and more snipping... i would have preferred a brushed or frosted finish so maybe i will hit it with some steel wool or something but still the results i am happy with....

Great for traveling (which I do often, thanks to my job). World clock, syncs automatically, (I think) 43 cities to adjust your time to…still learning the functionality.

Thought I'd contribute simply because I did not see very many manual watches in the last 160 pages.

I am tired of dealing with batteries. I actually enjoy my winding ritual every morning. And I'll still have a working timepiece after an EMP. lol
I normally only wind the Timex each morning. However, I have the Arnex up and running this week just to monitor the condition of it's workings. It is keeping perfect time so far these last 7 days.

The Arnex was gifted to me in 1973 by my brother. I was hard on it for the next couple of years and it shows. But because I was doing a lot more "clock & compass" type flying, I had to have a wristwatch and the Arnex was put away.
The watch I switched to for flying was a Bulova Accutron given to me by my career-pilot father who had been using it in the 1960s for some of his flying. I'll get a photo of it when I get back home this weekend.

The band for the Timex is from my uncle. He got it in 1949. It has been through hell out in the oil fields of west Texas but none of that hurt the surgical stainless springsteel one bit. (Obviously it was designed for 18mm - and the Timex uses 20mm springpins, hence the goofy spacers. I will be correcting those this weekend.)

Love the Timex and that band!
I have a love/hate relationship with my only mechanical watch. :D
The band was horrible so that has been changed out. If I wind it every morning it's runs fast by several minutes a day. If you wind it just a little too much, it stops running and you have to either smack it on the dresser or wait until it winds down and the tension is released.

I have seen where winding once a week is acceptable and once a month is preferred for other watches. Brand new out of the box I counted 24 rolls to get fully wound up. Each morning I can get 10-12 rolls, depending on how late I get to it.
Has me thinking that one roll of the knob provides one hour of ticking. But I have not proved that yet by letting 24-26 hours go by without winding and seeing if the watch stops. I should.
This Timex, at 12 rolls (I quit when it is full) every morning is keeping perfect time (checked against an atomic clock, computers, and the phone system at work). I hate to change what is working so far.
Maybe this weekend I'll give the winding knob a two day rest and see if I have second-hand movement.

I did see your post of your Vostok. Cool font for the face, but the blue is too bright for me.
I was in Northeast Germany at the end of August. They had some very cool Russian & East German watches for sale there. I looked, but walked away. Now I am sad I was so quick to dismiss.

I really like this band. Easy to get on or off, yet very secure when not deliberately trying to remove it. Does not clank on a table or desk, no odor retention, and zero issues holding the watch itself. The fact that it came from my favorite uncle (WW2 Marine, 1st/7th, Guadalcanal through Okinawa, 1 of 7 survivors of his platoon of 69 on Oki, -and- he gave me my first air rifle at 6 yo) makes it all the more precious.

(Still have the rifle and it functions perfectly. It is a .22 cal Rochester with wood stock & pump fore end.)

I no longer do field work, so decided to get something smaller than my Gshock to wear everyday.

Just found a new thread to peruse!

Got a new knock around Seiko from Namokimods since I wanted an all black watch vs my normal 2-tone preference.

How do you like this? I’m looking to get my first seiko and can’t decide between a field like that or a ssk033 with a new band.

You really can't go wrong with a Seiko. Definitely punch above their weight. I like the look of that field watch. I bet the lume is terrific. I put a different strap on my SNZB and it looks like a completely different watch.
    Cheers.
