I’m with ya.. the 14in screen was super nice to look at and the maps/waze/nav display was incredible. Still, I’m prefectly content with my little built in 8” screen that almost never glitches. I was just blown away at all the new tech

Thank for the input . the cost has me looking elsewhere in the future can’t justify paying that much for a truck with so little options . Upgrades are not that impressive to make the switch . I’ll drive my 3rd gen till it gets payed off then buy something else for a commuter and keep my 3rd gen for weekends .

I have a 3rd gen and 4th gen drives much better and rides much better. Interior is cool but still super cheap like the 3rd gen which is disappointing.

I HATE how cheap the materials are in my 3rd gen and in the 4th gen.

I agree. One of the first things I did was swap my 4-ply BFs to 10-ply and I stuck with the same size tires.

Smart. Same here. My 23 is all paid off (paid cash for it when I bought it used last year). Unless it gets totaled I’ll be driving mine until I can’t anymore. It’s almost the perfect truck for me (took close to 6 months to find this exact setup)

Still, I really enjoyed riding in the 4th gen and checking out all the upgrades.

I have found that these cause exponential decreases, dependant on the type of drive. If my drive is a steady 50-60mph with almost zero traffic, stoplights, or hills, I see very little difference. If its a short drive with a stop sign every block, the difference between SL and LT tires is humongous. Similarly, if I'm pulling at a constant 70-75 mph, the difference between lift/no-lift is also humongous.

I'm old school here. I want my truck to be made of plastic. I can't stand to see suede dashboards, brushed satin knobs, and deep pile floors in a truck. I want ugly plastic and vinyl seats. I want to grind my muddy feet into the upholstery like Rick James, then I want to be able to erase that with a simple swipe from a wet towel. The car is for dressing up and turning heads at the valet line. The truck is for indulging in dirt. I had a coworker with a loaded 3500 Laramie. It was a very nice vehicle. But every time i rode in it, the inside of my head was screaming "you just wanted a volvo with a lift kit."

Ever considered a Jeep? The Gladiator is probably the most utilitarian pickup on the market. You will find plenty of plastic and forget using a wet towel, you can just use the hose.

I don't mind the plastic; I just hate how it scratches so easy.

It scratches just by looking at it.

I don't disagree that its soft, I'm just surprised that mine doesnt have that many scratches after 6 years of ownership. Either that, or its so scratched up that you can't see the scratches through the scratches. :burp:

On the way to town, the screen turned to gray and it read, "Updating Settings" and stayed there for perhaps three minutes.

Per toyotas website 2023 tacoma sr5 31,280 base MSRP

    2024 tacoma sr5 36,200 base MSRP.

    That's more than 1k.

a 2024 tacoma SR is more expensive than the 2023 sr5 at 31,500.

When I was shopping new 2023 tacomas last year, I never saw an SR5 for under 36k.

I saw the same thing and thought "What the fuck?"

First of all, I should be the one to decide when updates occur. Now I need to dive back into the Tacoma software maze and see if it is set to auto update. I hate auto update.

Second, it should say "Updating software" or "Updating Toyota Connect" or something. When I saw settings the first thing that occurred to me was that it was wiping everything I had changed and resetting back to defaults.

End of 2023 when non stripped out sr5's were still available & 24's were available to order, msrp on the 23's were roughly around $38k.
They even tried to tack-on market adjustment fees for those dumb enough to agree to that nonsense.
    msrp changes with the market...
    I was shopping them.....
    My step-son bought one....
Regardless of what the internet may be telling you...

Real trucks are made out of steel. If you can't weld accessories onto the dashboard, it ain't a real truck!

not to further derail what is supposed to be a 2024 review thread, but this seems insanely low to me. do you average like 15 MPH?
