For sure. The only reason I didn’t stay 3 pedals, was @tacotunner06 warned me off of it, I think he has a TR6060 4x4 tranzilla in his and remembering our convos from a while back, it’s not happy

I remember some talks with him a while back on the topic as well. I don’t honestly recall what the issues were. Most that I’ve talked to say a built T56 should be more than sufficient for my goals with a proper clutch. The problem with the TR6060 is they have internal pumps. These pumps limit the viscosity you can run. T56’s on the other hand don’t all have internal pumps. This opens the door to running a thicker oil which will help matters.

Currently, my 6 speed has a quarter million miles on it and it’s still flawless. The biggest downfall is the clutch is just too small. Shock loading eats up sprung hubs and I’m usually out a clutch every year. Which I haven’t really had much issue with as it’s not a hard job or expensive really.

One thing I will say is I ran MT90 in it for years. Just this year I decided to dump shock proof heavy in it and it’s 100x better all around. Cold it’s a bastard but it warms up quick.

Well just under 2 years and 5k miles....Whats odd is the carrier bolts backing out and rubing on the bearing cap, never seen that before. Looking at 9" options that have the sensor hookup, I use A-trac and such in my 4x4. Otherwise Id just use a Locker. And could still drive it, went to the des, played in the des and drove home, just made whining under deaccel.,

This is why the e lock rear sucks. The non e lock has girdled caps and is wayyyy stronger because of it. The bolts loosening is from carrier deflection.

Personally, I would disable ABS and do your speedo pickup in the t-case where the provision is. That way you can go full float if you want.

Nope, wife drives the truck, ABS and A-TRAC we still use. However I would consider a non e locker conversion and install a arb locker like my front

only option thus far is the Fusion rear diffs, crazy pricey, ECGS is pricey and very heavy

I’ve been happy with how my “8.4” is holding up. But it’s definitely no 9”. Diamond also has the 9.5” as well.

Personally if you plan to push the truck I would skip the Toyota stuff entirely and just go 9”. There honestly isn’t a better axle in my personal opinion. It may be an expensive thing, but in the long run I highly doubt you would have regrets.

You could buy a bare housing and have someone install Toyota bearing blocks on the tubes and go from there. They are at least an available part.

Im going with either an AllPro Fabbed 8.4 housing or a Diamond 8.4 if that dude will ever return an email. After breaking #12 or 13 at Moab a few weeks ago, its time to step up.

Diamond also has a drop in housing that uses a LC/Tundra 9.5" 3rd that still retains all of the ABS stuff.

An 8.4 has the bearing cap truss and the pinion bearings are massively huge compared to a 9.5 LC/Tundra 3rd which in my opinion makes it a better option.

But......I heard from a super duper credible source, that JD is doing something with 74Weld along the lines of a drop in 9" that will retain all of the ABS crap and drumbrake/axle assembly. Just waiting on an actual time line for completion on that option.

Picked up this bad boy from Yotamaster on Tuesday because I literally don't have enough time to throw one together myself. Going to install it Saturday along with a new IEDS Carrier Bearing and U-Joints..

yes Jesse called me yesterday while repairs were being made, hopefully ill see a quote back from him, however 74 weld typically takes along time for dev to customers hands( like the Taco Rack). Thanks for the info, I may look at those options too.

For me it was more about the cost honestly, 7k for the trans and transfer case at the time was a lot. But I’m more worried now about shock loads grenading gears at some point in time. I do like the tr6060 but yeah would eventually like to add a cooler just gotta figure out the ports. But yeah running a twin plate clutch has been great. The McLeod rst has been awesome and has a very stocking clutch feel.

One thing I want to note here.

A big failure issue I’m currently having with my 8.4 is I am going through rear axle bearings often. Like guaranteed every year.

I think a lot of trucks in here likely have bad bearings as well. But with big tires etc, they go unnoticed. If you pull your shafts and you can feel play in the backing plate, they are shot.

In my opinion, it is likely to cause wear issues with spiders etc as they are being side loaded hard.

Someone out there makes a TR6060 front plate with upgraded pump and cooling ports already there. I saw that one along with one for the T56.

I thought I remember it being a cost issue for you but couldn’t speak for sure. It’s definitely not cheap especially if keeping 4x4. But I really think they can take the abuse. And are fun as hell!

yeah I mean so far so good so knock on wood, but yeah one of these days I’m gonna look into adding at least a temp sensor if not a cooler and possible filter setup if I could would be kinda sweet to have it setup to last forever. But yeah the tr6060 running atf was weird to me but it seems to like running and oil torque drive.
